I have a mei tai and I think I would like a SSC as well. I liked my snuggli with DD1 but since learning that they are not a good choice I was wondering which you ladies preferred and why? Which do your hubbys like? Thanks!
For a newborn between those 3, I think a mei tai is the best choice. If you want buckles, the beco would be a good choice (I would also check out the pikkolo). The problem with the Ergo for newborns is that you have to use the insert and it will be some time before baby can be legs out. A mei tai can be scrunched and rolled to fit a legs out baby. The Pikkolo has a cincher built in that will narrow the base for legs out. The Beco butterfly has an internal harness for a young baby and the Gemini has a narrow base. If you want buckles, I would see if you can try them on first to find the one that's the best fit. My siggy link has more baby wearing info if you are interested!
Thanks! I am thinking more for when baby is a bit older and has legs out/moves to back. I have several mobys, a woven & a mei tai all for new baby stage. I was thinking of the SSC for older baby and summer use. I dont mind using an insert if needed either!
In that case, I would try to find a group that has both or a store that carries them and try them on as preference really depends a lot on your body shape and what you like in a carrier! Both are good carriers.
You might also take a look at the Action Baby Carrier which is my favorite easily found buckle carrier. You can cross the straps in a front carry which I like (actually I think one or both Beco models also does that. The Ergo and some others are worn reverse backpack which I don't find nearly as comfortable).
It works much like a mei tai, but has the adjustable straps of a structured carrier. It also has adjustable stirrups for LO; looks a lot better than dangling legs!

I'm considering the Boba carrier:
