DH is fighting me on this but I am bound and determined. Plus, LO is "ready"- tells us when she poos, takes off her diaper, has the vocabulary, is very very interested in the potty.
How do you do this? What about when #2 needs you and #1 is pottying (or just sitting there for 20 minutes at a time)?
Re: Tell me about potty training...
Maybe I just got lucky, but I never once had to sit there for 20 minutes for my child to pee. Maybe because I did it when he was older? We potty trained him a few weeks ago. Anyhow, what I did was put him in underwear and told him diapers were all done. I didn't do the scheduled potty breaks--I would kind of keep an eye on the clock and encourage him to go sit down after it had been about 20 minutes since he had a large glass of liquid, but nothing in terms of scheduled potty time when we sat there for 20 minutes. If nothing happened within a few minutes, we let him be all done. By the end of the third day, he had caught on completely and told us when he needed to go. If DD happened to need me, I'd leave him in the bathroom by himself with the door open since he knows how to close the seat when he's finished/stand on the stool to wash his hands/wipe them.
We did the 3 day method with my daughter at 22 months and she did great. It did take more like 10 days but she has been accident free since that time. I always tell my friends it is more about mom being ready then the child. Be prepared when you go to Target for a 15 minute trip you may need to visit the bathroom twice in those first few months but it was a short phase for us- I think she just wanted to check out the potty everwhere.
Check out this method it worked great for us.
