Crock pot cooking in the van NMR

We have a 2009 T&C, it has a electrical outlet in the back .  We are taking a little trip and I would love to bRing dinner with us, and I was thinking about doing something in the crock pot so that it was done by the time we got there.  WDYT?  Has anyone ever done this or is this some thing that would tax the battery to much leaving us by the side of the road? It's just something I thought of today and thought I would ask you ladies.

Re: Crock pot cooking in the van NMR

  • we have the same vehicle- i would not cook in the car, though. i am sure you could do it, i would just worry about food spilling after a bump in the road, it being too hot for the car, my kids touching it...

when we travel, we either bring stuff like sandwiches or grain salads that have been in a cooler, or we eat somewhere cheap when we get there.

  • What if you did baked potatoes (or something of the sort) and just used the crock pot to keep it warm? An ice chest would accomplish the same thing i believe....

  • My crock pot locks down pretty good and I think I can fit it under the seat .  I was thinking more for when we get to my SILs house.
