at what age did/does your dr want your lo to trial dairy/soy (in any form)? my dr mentioned wanting to try to give her a tbsp of yogurt at 9 months. i don't know if this is normal b/c i always hear about waiting until 1 year. he can be very lax about certain things. i don't want to give it to her if it is likely to cause a reaction. she is on neocate formula (didn't do well with alimentum) but did ok twice a day on my breastmilk when i reintroduced hidden & baked cheese (didn't do well with actual milk or ice cream in my diet or soy milk)
he also mentioned wanting her to try soy formula. i am very against this. i would rather try her on alimentum again.
i appreciate any thoughts/input/advice. sometimes i feel bullied by him so i want to have my research done so i can tell him "no" if i choose to.
Re: mpsi mama's please come in
Our pedi suggested waiting until after 12months. I currently BF but have given formula on occasion. DS reacted to Allimentum so needed Neocate. She suggested that we wean from BFing with Allimentum if no reaction then we can try WCM. DS is very sensitive, I had 1 slice of cheese after no dairy/soy for 2 months and he had blood in his stool for 2 days.
thanks. based on all this, i'm going to just tell him i don't feel comfortable giving her anything at 9 months. it was such a long, hard road- took almost 2.5 months for the blood to clear from her stool & i really don't want to go there again.
i will try her on Alimentum at 11 months & go from there. thank you!
