Held my 1st IVF baby (baby mentioned obv)

My bestfriend since kindergarden got married this weekend.  It was awesome!!  We've had less contact in recent years, but always seem to pick right back up where we left off.  Beautiful ceremony (I cried I was so happy for her) and I got to read a scripture verse for them Smile

Her older sister struggled with IF and conceived with FET#2.  I've seen lots of women move on to PAIF, and I know one IRL pg with twins from a FET, but I've never held an ART baby.  Not that children from ART are any different, but it meant a whole lot more to me being able to see and touch living proof that maybe one day one of our treatments might work.  Does that make any sense?  I've been so discouraged after all our failures and early losses recently.  The sister knows are story was so encouraging and I think would have let me hold her LO as long as I wanted had there not been a bit of an obligation to pass him among family members.  She prayed with me too, which was super sweet.

No real point to this, just rambling I guess...

Testing - Me ok, gluten issue? DH - borderline count, low motility
4/28/11 IUI#1 = BFP!(5/25), EDD 2/2/12 - m/c 5w3d
7/3, 7/31, 9/25 - IUI#2-4=BFN
IVF#1 - 1 blast = BFP!! (12/30), EDD 9/9/12, confirmed c/p 4w2d
FET#1 3/2/12 - 2 blasts =BFP!! EDD 11/18/12, us#1 = twins! Confirmed m/c 5w6d
4/20-surprise BFP and another c/p 4w2d
FET#2 7/16/12 - 2 blasts = BFN
FET#3 8/20/12 - 1 blast - BFP!! Beta #1-2=177, 354
1st u/s 5w6d, one beautiful little HB :), 2nd u/s 146bpm
baby girl born 5/10/13

TTC#2 since 12/17/2014, Cycle 8
Repeat Testing...FSH=12, AMH=3.8, AFC=28. 
IUI#5 5/10/15- c/p?
IVF#2 8/19/15 - cancelled due to cysts
IVF#2 take two 10/2015 - 5 blasts frozen
FET#4 12/11/2015 - BFN - 4 blasts remaining
FET#5 2/18/16 - BFP!!!  Beta1-3, 126, 250, 745!!

    The first girl that I know IRL that used DE posted on FB the other day on her son's 3rd bday how thankful she was for modern science that allowed her to have her son. It was really touching for me to read as I start the DE process. Sort of the same thing as you holding your first ART baby. I think you are just more aware and sensitive to it all now. Glad you had a fun weekend!

    Lurker from TTC35+....

    I had the same feeling few weeks ago when I babysat for my good friend who had a baby from DE FET. At first I just stared at her and kept looking at her funny...knowing I wouldn't see her mom in her. I didn't think I was going to react like that since I'm going to also do DE. I wasn't sure if I wanted another person's genes but the more the evening went on and I held her and fed her it felt ok. I have to admit it was weird at first.

    Now I feel like I make no sense. Anyway I wish you the best of luck and I'm glad holding that LO brought you some comfort.

    ME:46 MH:44 DE IVF 2014
    Met with RE 4/11. 2 IUI's BFN. DE best option. Switched clinics to do "shared" program. Had to retake all tests and a mamm that put me behind and then on a DE waiting list for 12 months. Picked a donor!! (10/13/13) Got matched. Estimated transfer in December. After 2.5 years of patiently waiting I will finally cycle....can hardly believe it. DE cycle got cancelled. One of her tests came back positive.  Waiting for another donor. Donor picked!! (1/18/14)

    DE IVF #1 (4/26) BFN  DE FET #1 (6/4) BFP! Beta 1=339 Beta 2=852 Beta 3=9957 EDD 2/22/15!!

    My SIL had twins last month, FET, they are the most beautiful little girls! They spent Friday night at my house and I have to agree....gives me hope to see them and how science has made this possible.  

    April 2013 DE IVF= BFN

    September 2013 DE IVF (Fingers Crossed) = BFFFN! again...

    October 2013 FET of our last 2 = Beta Hellzz for 6-7 Weeks. M/C

    There is just something about IRL.  I really hope DE does the trick for you hun

    So glad you got to experience IRL IVF success! 

    I have two sets of IVF twins in my life and I was a nanny many moons ago (ten years ago) for two sibling miracles of IVF. I hold these babies (physically and mentally) near and dear to my heart with some hope of the possibility for myself.

    The two I was a nanny for are now obviously 10+ years old, but I remain close with the family and the Mom is a big source of support for me!

    Come to think of it, I also held my first IVF baby this weekend! My cousin just had a nine pound baby boy from their first IVF. Quite the little miracle.

    I have never had the pleasure of holding an ART baby, but I can imagine that it brings a world of hope.

    IVF 1- March 2012 Antagonist Protocol; BCP until March 3; AFC this cycle is 10 (Hooray); Start stims on March 9; ER on March 19- 2R; 2T (1 perfect 8 cell, 1 scrappy 3 cell); tubal infection from ER-hospitalized. Doomed! BFN

    I've not held an IVF baby but I did play with an IVF toddler, does that count? Stick out tongue But seriously, seeing her was awesome.  It gave me hope, even if for one millisecond.

    I know the feeling!  I held the first ART baby I knew about last year...it was a good feeling.  I am pretty open to "strangers" about our struggle (I work as a dental hygienist....I have to talk all day!) and I find there are lots of my patients who have opened up and told me about their IVF /TTC struggles...I don't feel so alone anymore.  I also feel that when I do share our story, it makes people aware.

    DX: Me-PCOS, retroverted/ tilted ute - DH- MFI, DH-4 mo of Clomid therapy= no improvement. Weekly HCG injections.
    Me-34, DH-33
    HSG- unsuccessful, SHSG (dialated)-no blockages
    7/11-Clomid (unmonitored) BFN,
    #1 Fresh IVF 9/11: w/ ICSI & AH (only option): (1 transfered, 8BF) = BFN!!

    Great story - isn't it amazing the instant bond you feel with other women whom have been there already.  As some sort of cruel joke, I actually deliver babies for a living and have found I am open with patients and their husbands who are former IVf'ers and I haven't told my co-workers about the four cycles we did this year (2xivf and 2xfet), but I feel comfortable and they like to know I can empathize with their efforts to be where they are.

    I know not one IVF baby. That alone is humbling, but it sure is nice to know they exist out there!
