I didn't have any with DS because he was breech and we knew I was going to have a c-section so it didn't really matter.

So, I have no concept of when they start.

36 weeks unless there is a specific reason to check before then.

With DS, I wasn't even dialated at my 40 week 3 day appointment and contractions started the next morning. So, I may ask OB to skip the first cervical check or two.

I actually just came home from my first check (36 weeks). He told me I'm 1cm. Nothing exciting.

They don't have an official policy. I'm having the GBS screening next week and as it is my first exam even remotely internal since my 12 week appointment, they offered to check while they were down there. I still haven't decided if I want them to check or not...

We had to do one last week because I lost part of my mucous plug. They said I was already softening, but still closed and high.

Never. I'm pretty sure my MW if cool with me opting out of internal exams; really doesn't matter to me if I'm dilated or not.

Mine will start at 36w. I'm sure I can refuse them, but I'm just too curious. It didn't affect me one way or the other with DD (was 1cm from 36w-39w, then 2cm...went into labor spontaneously at 39w5d).

I had one at my last appointment (35w) since I had the Group B test and she was already down there.

I am guessing at my 36wk appt, since he'll be doing my GBS swab at the same time.

Mine started this week (36) but I think it was because he was checking for group B strep anyway. I dont think he plans on doing it every week. My last OBGYN didnt check every week. She checked when she did the swab, then again at 39 weeks.

They've started mine already since I've now made two trips to the hospital. MW said I was 3cm. Yikes.

I'm 36 weeks and they told me during my appointment last week that they will be doing an internal exam and GBS swab for this week's appointment. They'll have to tell me how it's going down there tomorrow because I haven't seen it in ages.
