The good news: She worked soooo hard! And she thought it was really fun. I'm so proud of her.
The bad news: She scored at a 20 month level for fine motor skills Um, yeah, she's over four years old. Crap, I knew she was behind but that was really sobering. I'm trying not to beat myself up too much. It took us 7 months to get through the waiting lists and evaluation process and finally get the therapy going.
The other good news: I finally got an appointment scheduled for an evaluation through the school system and hopefully this new information will help us qualify for some services.
Re: Had DD's first OT appointment this morning!
Thanks Jcrab! You know, I brought up that her fine motor skills seemed behind at her 3 year appointment, and the pedi said something like, "oh, just play with play doh and color more." Um, okay. At that point she spent about 3 hours a day playing with play doh
Don't beat yourself up. I never thought there was anything off or delayed with Chris's motor skills and he just got his OT eval and the therapist, within minutes, told me he'd score very poorly. Who knew? I thought he was fine - getting into all sorts of trouble because of how good he was at doing things, but apparently he's very delayed.
I'm not beating myself up too much about it though, and neither should you. Go with the therapy and take it one triumph at a time!
