We have started having DS1 (3) and DS2 (11 mos) sleeping in the same room, big boy in a bed, infant in the crib. We tried this once before when DS1 was potty training and starting pre school and it was just too much and a total disaster, so we stopped. We started again last week (DS2 prior to this had been sleeping in a pack n play in our tv room/guest room/office, which wasn't a long-term space solution). It hasn't gone horribly (they both sleep through the night) but it hasn't gone great in that DS1 is waking up very early (5:30 am) and waking up DS1. I think basically he is SO excited to see his brother that he just jumps up in the crib and starts making noise to wake him up. This is tough on DS1 being in preschool and only getting a max 2-hour nap (at home on weekends he'll sometimes take a 3 hour nap and he would do 2.5 hours when he was home with our nanny during the week). DS1 was a DISASTER this morning. Anyway, I'm wondering if any one else has done this and I'm hoping you'll tell me that eventually the little one settles down and doesn't wake up the big one - but if you have any tricks or advice it would be much appreciated.
