How was your weekend?

I MUST come back and actually answer my own question this time.  And, how was it?

Re: How was your weekend?

  • Good morning!  The weekend was quick but good.  Saturday we had a family day and then Sunday we got lots of little projects done, I ran errands when JB napped, and then we all giggled on the couch while watching the olympics.

  • Friday - Met L and the kids for dinner at our favorite Mexican place that just re-opened. Watched Olympics.

Saturday - L took the kids to the gym while I took the toddler bed that didn't sell on Craigslist to the donation place. Went to lunch at PF Changs and then to get the kids haircut. (Seriously, they got the cheapest and BEST haircuts at Cartoon Cuts. We are so happy!) Did a few more errands and then came home to relax for the rest of the evening.

Sunday - My birthday! :) We went to my favorite breakfast place and during the meal, Carter kept saying how cold he was. Fever. Got him back home and in bed while I took Grayson to the pool - it was awesome to get some 1:1 time with him. The rest of the day was spent lazing around. Carter couldn't get rid of his fever and was a whiny mess. L went to get take out for my birthday dinner followed by watching Philadelphia after the kids went to bed.

  • Friday:  Family drama. So we ate pizza.

Saturday:  We did errands in the morning, which ended up not solving as many problems as we had hoped.  E was a trooper though.  Big storms in the afternoon.  Watched some TV and got ready for friends coming over the next day.

Sunday:  Up early with E.  Then the little guy crashed early for a long nap.  Had lovely friends and their little girl over for grilling and water table play and great conversation.

  • Friday - We grabbed some Tac.o Be.ll and ran some last minute errands for the big floor install.  We then went home and kinda just relaxed in anticipation of the big weekend.

Saturday - Started bright and early (6am boo). The floor install team (dad, BIL, MIL, mom, bro and M) got started around 10am.  It went very well.  I felt very unhelpful as no one would allow me to do anything so about mid day I left and ran some errands.  They wrapped it up around 11pm totally finished in one day.  I was amazed.  Also my MIL and mom have only interacted once together in our 8 years so I was worried as they are two totally different people but it went really well!!!  They both made baby plans and ordered our cribs as a surprise.

Sunday - M's mom stayed the night as we finished so late and she came up by herself (both sets of our parents live about 2 hours away).  M and her mom watched some Olympics and let me sleep in until about 10!  Then she left and M and I spent the rest of the day enjoying our new floors, grocery shopping and cleaning.  It was so nice to not have to wear shoes in the house (the concrete was hard on the feet!).  I sent I don't know how many thank you calls, text and fb messages to those that helped.  Oh and we spent the day making fun of the fur babies as they have not mastered the wood floors yet!

  • Friday:- we had V's mum and aunts over to do a girly night to beautify before their 50th high school reunion. It was a blast. We got out drunk by a 68 year old. Very amusing and really lovely listening to them reminisce about driving each other to the hospital to give birth to their babies, going out partying together, etc. Such a lovely close bond between those women.

Saturday:- I went to V's softball tournament in the morning, then we got home and hung out on the hammock and couch for an afternoon nap, watched movies and went to sleep.

Sunday:- I went to support V's team for their final softball match, went home, showered, and went to the prizegiving. Lots of fun! Its the first year she's playing with this team and I love them. An older group, no drama, and you can tell that these women care about each other. All in all a busy but successful weekend.

Friday - minor date night fail as we found out the movie that was listed to start a "dusk" actually started at 7 pm, meaning our planned 8 pm arrival was a no-go.  Quickly changed plans and moved our picnic to a park near our house, drank silly frozen wine coolers from a pouch, and came home and watched The Closer.  Lovely night that C and I really needed.  I love Friday night date nights, I think maybe we should make it a tradition.

Saturday - woke up early and volunteered my usual shift at the food bank.  It was the first Saturday of the month and I have never seen it so busy.  The need is immense in the summer with kids home from school.  Then went to meet my friend who was in visiting for lunch.  It was great to see her and a few mutual friends, and they picked a nice place with tons of gluten free options for me.  Came home and C and I tackled unpacking a ton of boxes, ordered some storage cabinets for the living room, and planned our next phase of organizing.  Went to dinner at a Thai place and went to sleep relatively early.

Sunday - did so much, accomplished so little.  Crazy day of errands that ended with us having groceries and a bunch of carp from Ikea, but nothing more done on the apartment.  Got home around 10:30 and I spent an hour on a report for work that I had planned to do "sometime" this weekend, and then went to bed.
