An extra bouncy seat. We already had one that DD1 used and I went back and forth about if we REALLY needed a second one because we already had a swing too. I figured one baby would be in the swing and one in the bouncy. I'm so glad we registered for a second bouncy. Both babies LOVED it for like the first 5 months. They both liked the swing ok but it was just so big, we very rarely pulled it out of the corner.
Two swings. My girls loved being in them. We got the lamb swings. They would also take their naps in them early on. These swings really helped us when they came down with a cold around six months of age. Being slightly elevated they were able to be a little more comfortable and sleep.
Best items for our twins/us: rock-n-plays, snuza alarms, city select stroller, swings, dishwasher baskets (for bottle parts). We use these items daily and love them!

Miracle blankets and a breast pump. I had to buy both after and wish I had both on hand. I would have not opened the breast pump until I needed it, so I could return it if needed, but ended up having to get a pump at the hospital for another $90 which was a bummer.

FET#3 = Twin girls! Born on 3.16.12 at 33w2d due to severe pre-E. After 4 weeks in the NICU they are home!
* Dr. Brown's formula-mixing pitcher (we later upgraded to the Pampered Chef Quik Stir pitcher which was great for making a whole day's worth of formula for both babies at once!)
Rock and play sleepers! I thought they looked cheesy and cheap but I got one to try and then we had to run out and get me another ASAP after they were born. They are so easy to move from room to room, travel with, put by the bed and they are elevated which is great and the babies just loved being swaddled and cocooned in them. My BF'ing pillow, City Select Stroller and my Ergo were also MUSTS on my list!

I got two of the Fisher Price infant to toddler rockers and it has been a life saver. They slept in them for the first 8 weeks and now I use them to do double feelings as well as anytime I need to put them down and have them being sitting up. Love it! Also, my niece is two and when she comes over she uses it as her chair to watch tv, so I know we will get years of use out of it!

Aden & Anais swaddle blankets. I didn't realize that all blankets are not alike. We were busting out of Carter's swaddle blankets within a few weeks, and mine could get out of SwaddleMes, too. The A&A blankets were the BEST.
Summerinfant Swaddleme's (4 of them). Then four light fleece Carter's blanket sleepers (after they started breaking out of their swaddles at 2.5 months). Two bouncy chairs with vibration, one swing, one XL play yard. Ooh, and my XL bottle drying rack, what a life saver. And two of those cage thingies for nipples and such for the dishwasher; could not have survived without them. A white noise machine (the sleep sheep is way too low - we used a hairdryer!).
The RnPs have been the best baby item! We also have 2 boppys and a PnP in the living room that have been essential. The dr browns pitcher is helpful for formula feeding and we love the DSNG.
2 swings, the DSNG, breast friend pillow, 2 boppies (wish I had a spare cover for each). I wish I had a 2nd pack n play for naps downstairs because they are almost too big to both be in 1 now.
It's going to be different for everyone and each LO...some of the PP's "must have" items are things I considered useless/waste of money (double nursing pillows, bumbos, 2 swings or bouncers or whatever, etc).
FWIW, I couldn't have lived without my DSNG, RnPs, and A&A swaddling blankets. I WISH I had registered for a video monitor instead of just an audio one (I just purchased a video one and LOVE having it).
TTC for 3 years. Finally successful after 5 IUIs and 2 cycles of IVF. Our amazing twins were born 5 weeks early on 8/16/11. Found out April 2012 that our di/di twins are ID.
2 rock n plays, 2 swaddle me blankets- I think those were key in getting the babies to sleep for long periods of time in the first 2-3 months.
bottle warmer, lots of bottles, dr browns formula pitcher-ideally 32 bottles so you don't have to handwash bottles (8 feedings/day x 2 babies=16 bottles/day). I also pumped, but rented a Medela Symphony from the hospital for $63.90/month.
Double snap and go stroller-I couldn't go anywhere by myself without this easy stroller.
2 bouncer seats- we started feeding the babies at the same time when they were about 8 weeks old and we put them in 2 bouncer seats (pick 2 that are a little taller so the babies sit more upright). I think we paid $38 each for ours....not too bad!

The #1 item we can't live without is the Halo fleece sleep sack swaddler. The babies had them in the hospital and I liked them so much, we bought 4 in the first week. They have slept in them each night since birth! So much easier than working with blankets.
Other items I like: Tomee Tippee bottles, RnP's, Boppy newborn loungers, Boppy noggin nests. I like the Aden + Anais blankets a lot, but we don't swaddle with them. They are perfect for the summer and the babies love holding onto them now.

Question about these Rock and Play sleepers (first I've heard of them...just googled and they look fabulous!). Could newborns sleep in these when they first come home? We don't necessarily want to purchase bassinets, and we don't have room for the cribs in our bedroom, but if these would work for the first several weeks (and are easy to move about and we'd get lots of other use out of them), then I'm for sure registering for them! TIA
