So I know this gets asked here, probably quite often, but I didn't see anything too recent. I also understand everyone is really quite different, as is every pregnancy.
I wanted to ask you ladies how you gained your weight? I'm trying really hard to eat healthy, I do have my pit falls, but I'm just worried about gaining too much. I know my body will gain what it needs to I just want to not be so shocked going to the Dr's. So far at 18ish weeks, I've gained 14 lbs. I just feel like thats a LOT. I know there are two babies in there so there is more I need to eat like protein and other good stuff.
My Dr hasn't been too helpful providing a normal weight gain intervals with twins so I thought I'd turn to y'all
SN- This is a post and run, but I'll be back later
TIA!!
Re: Weight gain intervals...
I felt awful at my 12w appointment because I'd put on 4lbs in just 4 weeks (first trimester, and all)... we discovered the ovarian cysts the next day, so she's pretty confident that about half of those pounds can be attributed to the 20cm & 15cm ovaries I'm lugging around... but my overall weight gain for the first trimester has been about 10lbs, and she said that if we take the cysts into account, there is nothing wrong with my 10lbs gain and she's OK with it. I'm sure that your 14lbs at 18 weeks is totally normal for twins... you're about half way done, and you're supposed to gain anywhere from 35-55lbs total if your pre-pregnancy weight was normal or a little overweight. Don't be skimpy on calories! Just make sure that you try to fill a good portion of your diet with veggies and dairy and eat all of the healthy fats and proteins you feel like you can. The junk sugar, starch, and fried foods (full of breading and crap oils) are the things you want to avoid... but most "professionals" recommend a good 2700-3500 calories a DAY with twins
you're doing great.

Thanks for the feed back everyone!! I appreciate it a ton!
I've been trying hard to eat right and eat healthy snacks when I feel hungry. But I definitely have a sweet tooth. I do my best to try and control it, but I'm not depriving myself from sweets either. I'm in no way getting the 2600 calories to be honest. I was only eating about 800-900 prepregnancy, so I've added 600 on top of that. I've kind of just been going with the whole, my body will tell me when/if I need more type reaction.
I really do appreciate the feedback and feel a lot better about the gain now.
