DH's parents and my parents each had us in their late 20s. But we both have grandparents that were having healthy babies into their early 40s. Wondering if we just got lucky or if family history might have something to do with this.
interesting question. My mom was in her 20's when she had me and my sister. But my Grandma was 38 when she had my aunt and 42 when she had my mom! Both healthy children and that was in the 50's!
I was my mom's only at 21. My dad's mom had her babies from 17-27. His Grandmother had 15 babies, last one in her late 40s, but it wrecked havoc on her health and she died in her early 60s. Her 1st only lived 3days, but the rest were healthy.
My mom's mom had her last baby at 41, her mother had her last at 43, and HER mother had her last at 53! (she had 22 total) All healthy births.
Other than me at 38 and 41 (will be 41 when this one arrives) and my younger sis (35 and 37) when her babies were born there is no history of AMA in our family.

Tons on both sides of my family. My great great granfather was born to his mother when she was 54! Great grandparents had babies into their early and late 40's.
I have a theory that up until recently, b/c of advances in birth control, it was the expectation that women would have babies up until their 40's. And they did!
I'm adopted, so it doesn't quite 'count' for me, but I have a long series of grandmothers, great-aunts and aunts who all had babies in their very late 40s - just seemed a common thread on one side of the family.
My maternal grandma had her last at 30 (5 in all and they all lived to adulthood) and my paternal grandma had her last at 40 (14 in all and 8 lived to adulthood.)

Holy Cow!!! You must have a huge family!
LOL. Extended, yes, but not immediate. I guess there was no TLC back then to document it all, they were just really good Catholics.
My great grandmothers had babies well into their 40's. My mom was done by 34. My maternal g-mom was one and done @28. My paternal g-mom was 30. My MIL was 39 when her last was born but that doesn't have anything to do w/ me.

My mom had all her kids before she was 30. I think y grandmother may have had her last at 32 which was considered old back then.
However, my sisters and I are all late 30s having our babies. My youngest sister is 30 and not even ready to think about kids (or a serious boyfriend) yet.

Dunno. My maternal grandmother was in her 30's when she had my mom and paternal grandmother was 40 and 46 when she had my dad and uncle respectively. I've been very lucky but have cousins with IF issues, so who knows?
