It's warm--how do you dress LO to sleep?

I live in Seattle, so no AC. It's usually around 68-70 in our house at night in the summer. But we're having a heat wave and it's more like 80 in here. DD2 usually sleeps in a sleepsack (cotton knit, thin, 1-tog rating), because blankets make me nervous. It's so warm, and I have LO in a short sleeve onesie, but she prefers her sack. Window is open and a fan is in there, but in still worried she'll get too hot. My older DD was this age during wintertime, so overheating wasn't an issue and by summer, she was old enough to sleep with a blanket.

Curious what you all are doing?

  • We're in Portland and it is 100 here today! No a/c here and we are NOT used to this heat. DD is currently crying herself to sleep, but I feel so bad because she is normally swaddled:( Right now she's in a diaper only with the fan blowing on her and will not go to sleep!

  • We use short pjs (like onesies that snap up the front), and a really lightweight sleep sack. I was worried at first, but he's always been fine. If it was ever really not here at night, say, still over 80 at bedtime, I'd probably just do the sack and have him just wear his diaper.

  • I'm in Ny...it's been almost 100! We normally do pjs and sleep sack but w the warm weather we just do pjs. But we also have air in our living room and her bedroom is off of it. If we didn't I'd put her in a onesie.

We have AC and our house is always set at 78, winter or summer. Colton sleeps in cotton footed PJs with a ceiling fan. No problem!

  • We had MAJOR heat a few weeks back and DD can't sleep if she's not in a footie sleeper. So I searched to find the thinnest ones ever created (gerbers are pretty good!) so that she could sleep. I also have the fan right on her with a window fan pulling hot air out. (She has no a/c in her bedroom and it gets pretty bad.) It was quite comfortable in there with that combo. Also - keep it REALLY dark in the room during the day if you can and that may help.

  • We are in Seattle also! I've been putting our LO in a short sleeve onesie, and then using an Aden & Anais sleep sack with the really thin muslin material. We also have our ceiling fans on and crack the window in our room at night to let some cooler air in.  Luckily it doesn't get this warm in Seattle too often. =)

  • We dress Lauren in a light weight footie sleeper. We keep our air on and a fan on in her room, she'd be cold otherwise!

  • We are in Dallas, so 100+ here nearly all summer. But we havre AC so the house is around 77. The thermometer on my monitor says the temp is 75 in the nursery at night w/ the fan on high. L sleeps in lightweight cotton PJs - long-sleeved, some with feet and some without. No sleep sack. We have the super light A+A ones but even that felt like too much.

Been keeping it dark with blackout curtains and blinds, so it helps a little. Definitely a good tip!

  • Here it is well over 100 everyday from May-Sept. We HAVE to HAVE AC or we would die, it was 109 today.  Our temp. is set for 75, DD sleeps in a onsie and that is all..well diaper of cource

  • My LO sleeps in a diaper and t shirt or onsie. Then if it cools down by the time I go up to bed I put his blanket on him. It is a tight woolen one and keeps him warm or I'll cover him with a big receiving blanket
