Carriers for a heavy baby

Hi ladies. I have never posted here on the AP board, but I do consider myself semi AP. Smile I just wanted to ask what carrier you would recommend for a heavy 4 month old. I don't know much about the different types. I do have a baby bjorn carrier that I have been using. I really only use it when I'm out of the house. Grocery, shopping, errands, etc. I'm starting to becomed concerned about DS's comfort though. I bought a moby wrap and tried it but did not like it. I prefer something a little more secure and sturdy. TIA!

I love our Ergo. It has more shoulder padding than a Bjorn & a wider seat which is in turn more comfortable. My son is big (26lbs at 7.5 months) and it's still comfortable.

We've got an Ergo Sport and it's still very comfy for my 15 month old. As easy as the Bjorn, but much more ergonomic for both of you.

I will add that if you've got a big baby, carriers that face out won't be comfortable. It throws off your balance and alignment.

The Ergo Baby is amazing. I have lower back problems and can't even tell I'm carrying a baby with this. It takes all the pressure off your back and puts it in your hips so it's nice and comfy for both of you. Plus LO is right up against your chest/stomach and not the material of a carrier. I could even carry a 10 month old in ours while I was 6 months pregnant!

I would strongly suggest trying before you buy if you can - buckle carriers in particular are more picky in terms of what is most comfortable for your body. You might see if there's a baby wearing group near you that has things you can try. My siggy link has a breakdown of carrier types that might help you narrow things down as well. Wrapped correctly/tightly, the moby will be as secure as any carrier out there - but no worries if you didn't like it - that's why we have so many to choose from!
