I've been lurking on this board for awhile, trying to find some inspiration for a boys name. DH and I can't agree on anything. Our daughter is Juniper Claire, but we call her Junie. She fits her name really well.
Our last name is one syllable, and if we have a boy (team green) his middle name will be Porter, as it's a family name. But we can't for the life of us agree of think of a boys name. My DH suggests names that are out there or so uncommon that I can't bring myself to approve (and yes, I say this with a daughter named Juniper). Some of his suggestions include Idris, Gawain, and Huckleberry ( He's crazy).
DH likes also Liam--I like it too, but holy crap it's popular, and not sure how well it pairs with our DD's name. I love Silas and Finn, but DH is on the fence about Silas, and Finn will sound weird with a one syllable last name. My DH really wants something Celtic, but at this point, I could care less. We want an actual name, and am absolutely opposed to anything rhyming with 'aden.'
Anyways, any suggestions will be appreciated. Maybe I'm putting too much stock into whether the sibling names go together . . . ?
Re: Boy name for the brother of Juniper
I love Celtic/Gaelic names that are uncommon here too. Some of these might be a bit too out there for North America, but what about Cillian, Eamonn, Cian, Diarmuid, Cathal, Donal, Cormac, Odhran/Oran, Niall, Lorcan?
You could always do Finlay/Fintan/Finnegan with the nn Finn as well. My DS is Gareth...in Arthurian legend Gareth was Gawain's little brother. Maybe that might appeal to your DH? It's a bit more usable than Gawain, I think. Alternatively, Gavin is a form of Gawain.
That's tough! I love Juniper btw, our Jocelyn (josie) was going to be Juniper up until delivery day. I'm terrible with boy names too, here goes:
Calvin Porter? Sky Porter? Ian Porter? Gavin Porter?
My dads name is Remington (he goes by Rem ) and we are using it as a mn if we have a boy.
I like Roman Porter, Garrett Porter, Everette Porter, Theo Porter, and I know it's odd but I like the name Rogue. I think Rogue Porter sounds great!
You have the best naming taste of anyone ever, I think. I LOVE Juniper Claire (and Silas and Finn). I totally would use Juniper if DH liked it. I am so jealous that yours does! Although his suggestions this time around are pretty bad.
I like PP's suggestion of Kipling. We considered that for this baby with the NN Kipp. I like that it has spunk like Juniper.
I also think Phineas would be a good choice. And you could use the NN Finn/Phin casually, but Phineas when you say his whole name.
But it's definitely not completely necessary for sibling names to go together perfectly. We had a hard time finding something to go with Diggory for this baby. The names we have picked out this time are waaaay more common (top 200) and the only thing they have in common with Diggory is that their origin is British. Good luck!
It's nice to find a kindred spirit, haha! And yes, I agree that DH's suggestions are bad. He, unfortunately, has 0 inhibitions when it comes to crazy names, so it makes agreeing on names difficult.
And thanks for all the suggestions, everyone! We definitely have some more ideas that we both like now, which is good!
