Touch Aversion?

Has anyone else developed an aversion to being touched? Not having your belly rubbed, but just being touched in general (hugged, patted, cuddled, etc). I realise that I work in an environment where this may be more of an issue than for others (MHMR) but for teachers especially or parents who already have cuddly kids at home - has this been an issue?

  • YES....i was just like that with my 2nd pregnancy, it was so weird. But i did not like being touched, hugged, or kissed by my husband. And the though of his penis made me want to gag lol. I was such a *** during that pregnancy, but I couldn't help it! lol.

  • **raises hand**  Yes, but it's totally not a pregnancy thing for me.  I'm like that all the time.  And I teach small children and have a small child and a DH who thrives on being loved on.  I just grin and bear it for as long as I can take without screaming.  Then I hide away from everyone. :)

With my last pregnancy, it was horrible at the end because my skin actually hurt on my stomach.  My clothes were almost too much.  I would dodge anyone with the "touch the belly look" in their eyes. :)

  • DH tried to tickle my armpits a bit ago and I seriously almost punched him. Lol. But he can rub my back :) But yeah, I'm definitely more irritable on certain days which causes me to not want to be touched.

  • Absolutely the same thing here. Happened last time as well, but I don't remember it going on so long, though it's possible I'm simply even more curmudgeonly now!

Even my cat wanting to sit with me is annoying at the moment - I still want to talk with people, but just do not want to be touched.

Slightly off topic (sorry OP, I'll keep it brief) : a friend of mine who was pregnant a few years ago absolutely HATED people touching her stomach without permission. So when omeone randomly came up and tried to rub her belly, she would reach over and rub their breasts. "If you can make me uncomfortable, then I get to make you uncomfortable," was how she explained it. I actually saw her do this once to a woman in the grocery store. Random stranger who came up gushing about babies and started patting her belly without asking. My friend reached right over her cart and rubbed her hands all over the woman's chest, gushing about how much fun big boobs were. Hilarious!
