Dipping their soother in.....

So... I do not think I am too cranky about it.. but my Grandma (LO's great grandma) is 90 years old.. has raised all of us including many of her own so I feel like she knows what she is doing lol

But she does thinks like rubs LO's soother on a peach and then puts it in her mouth... Anyone dip their little one's soother in something other then gripe water??

Re: Dipping their soother in.....

  • hmm...I would seriously worry about the sugars she's getting from that peach. You might want to ask your pedi if thats ok.. Just because people survived doing things 50 years ago doesn't mean they will now...Which is why safety regulations and medical advice is constantly evolving.

I've never thought of putting LO's pacifier in gripe water before giving it to him. I might try that next time he's fuzzy. I hate giving him full doses of it..it feels like SO much!

  • Ya i do not ever give the full dose, i just dip her soother in it, she loves it and it is just enough to keep her clam to put her to sleep.. the less the better!

I am worried about the sugar.. don't know that it will effect her with once in a month.. but for sure do not want it to continue! lol

  • I wouldn't be worried about the sugar on a peach. At least it's all natural. When dd1 was 5 weeks old she had to have a spinal tap, the nurse gave her liquid sucrose to calm her down. Hell formula probably has more sugar in it than what you'll get rubbing the binkie on a peach.

  • My pedi recommended dipping his paci in sugar water for his two month shots. I did it.

  • Screw the binky, just give her the whole peach. And make sure it's a nice big plump one, you wanna make sure she gets a nice sugary effect from it. Might as well go all out, eh?!

  • Rubbing the binky on a peach will not give the baby hardly any sugar.

this website lists the nutrition facts for a whole peach, one whole LARGE peach only has 15grams of sugar.

  • I don't know anything about dipping pacifiers.

When my child is fuzzy, I give him a trim.

  • Yesterday It was suggested by MIL to put honey on his Pacifier.  I quickly jumped on that and said absolutely not, botchulism!.

then she proceeded to tell me how she gave her son cod liver oil.  I dont really know how that effects baby but thats not honey.  I told my DH and he was not pleased that i was telling another story of MIL.  So i sent him and my DM a link to an article.  I didnt send it to MIL bc i dindt want to affend her.
