We're expecting twin girls in December. It sounds like the easiest thing to do is to use disposables until they can fit into one size CDs. So if we plan on doing that, what do I need? How many diapers, inserts, etc. and what kind? Also what kind of equipment? Does everyone use a diaper sprayer?
Re: cloth diaper registry suggestions?
This blog I found today is a twin mom who CDs:

SHe also has a great resource list and twin mom blog roll, which I posted earlier. HTH!
It is so overwhelming in the beginning! Everyone has their own opinions about which one is the "best" but I can tell you what we use and what we do. We used disposables (Pampers Swaddlers worked awesome) until the babies were 8 weeks old and about 8lbs. After that we started using the Bum Genius Freetimes. They are all in ones and are all one piece with no inserst, covers, etc. Nothing. Just one simple piece. They are semi expensive, about 20.00 a piece but they grow with your babies. We bought 32 of them so I didn't have to wash diapers every day. We only use the cloth diapers when we are home, when we are out and about we use disposables because honestly I have enough stuff to carry when we go out, I don't need to take along cloth diapers both clean and dirty. At night we also use disposables. For washing the diapers all I do is put them into the washing machine, put it on the normal cycle with hot water and an extra rinse using the Rockin' Green detergent. I air dry them to preserve the velcro. We don't use a sprayer, we do use the super thin liners to protect the diapers from stains, you can get a roll of those on Amazon for I think 8.00 for 100 and then you cut those in half to fit the diapers better.
I know a lot of people use different brands for different reasons but I really can't say enough good things about the BG Freetimes and cloth diapering in general. It is so simple and I'm really glad we decided to go with it!
I got a NB stash and was glad I did so, as I could also sell them off after and make most of the money spent on them back. They moved to one size diapers around 5-6 weeks and I started with Bum Genius pockets. I got a little bored with stuffing them so moved to Grovia All in 2s (AI2s) last week and am liking them, way smaller laundry. I use Freetimes at night, and just had a friend confirm that a Freetime with a Flip insert works great for nighttime, which I will try once we aren't changing at night anymore. I do love the simplicity, though they are meant to be hang-dried.
What I did do was get a stash of a few types while pregnant because hunting out good deals now wouldn't work. Selling takes some work but I can do that at my leisure.
Good luck! There is also a great FAQ on the cloth diapering board with a lot of general information.
Definitely check out the Cloth Diapering board here. I wrote a blog post about all I know about CDing twins. Registering at Amazon worked well for us, and some folks bought us some Lil Joeys from there.
I chose to go with a set of newborn all in ones, which they wore for the first 9 weeks (at which point they outgrew the absorbency, even though the diapers still physically fit, and at which point the OS diapers were starting to fit), and a set of one size pocket diapers which they're in now. I saved money over what starting in disposables would have been, because I was able to sell all my AIOs for about what I paid for them. It was really not a big deal at all to CD with NB twins.
I've found I prefer to do a load of laundry every day, because with two, they produce the amount of dirty diapers to wash that most singleton mamas are washing every other day, anyway, and my wet bag gets full. But I have enough diapers that I only stuff every other day. Here's what I would say you need, based on my own stash:
Newborn:
36 newborn AIO diapers
2 large hanging wet bags
2 smaller wet bags for diaper bag
CD safe detergent (I use Tide Ultra Original HE powder)
CD safe diaper cream
Flushable liners in case you need to use non CD safe cream
Post-newborn:
At least 36, preferably 48 OS pocket diapers (BumGenius, Rumparooz, Fuzzibunz, and Alva are what we use)
4 fitteds and covers for overnights once they STTN
8-12 hemp inserts (I like Thirsties) for stuffing into ON diapers or using as doublers when you need to stretch the time between changes
Fleece liners if your fitteds don't have a stay-dry inner
Flushable liners for using with creams or if it makes poop easier to deal with for you
Diaper sprayer for after they start solids (you don't need it until then)

What it's like to cloth diaper twins, Part I.
Cloth diapering twins, Part II.
I had 50 something NB diapers- a combination of pockets (FB XS), AIO (BG XS and Grovia NB), fitteds (GMD workhorse, KL0, and WAHM), covers (Bummis and Thirsties), and a dozen GMD PFs as a back up. I, the beginning, I only wanted to buy AIOs or possibly pockets but when I actually started using them, I ended up preferring the fitteds. I had already bought my OS stash so there was nothing I could do about it at that point... I'd recommend getting a variety in the NB size... you can sell them off later... and that way you'll be able to find out which diapers you really like best before you invest in your OS stash. There are also trials you can do to achieve the same goal, though.
My OS stash is all pockets. I have BG 4.0s, Fuzzibunz, Rumparooz, Blueberries, Kawaii, and Sunbaby. I have 47 total but I don't need that many. Variety in brands is good because some brands don't work for some babies... they also sometimes will work great for a while and then your babies' body shapes could change and then they don't work so great.
