1st Birthday gift suggestions

in Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

DD will be 1 here shortly and grandparents, great grandparents and aunts and uncles are calling asking for ideas of what to give her. She has lots of clothes and stuff for now, but I have no idea what types of toys or gifts she will want within the next year. I would ask for a wagon or toy box but we live 12 hours from our families so the items would be best if they weren't quite that big. I would love suggestions from you all since your babies are over a year now and you probably have the newest freshest idea of what is awesome!

    Ride-on toys

    Tunnel (from IKEA, folds up small) or tent

    Water table

    Mega Blocks

    Balls of all sizes

    Cabbage Patch doll (or other dolls) 

    Board books (finally stopped trying to totally destroy them recently)

    Sand bucket and shovel

    The best gift that we received was a wheely bug (small size). Great for a growing toddler and still loved 4 years later by my oldest.  It is a family favorite.

    I love musical toys. There is a great drum set at Target. There is also this whack a ball thing from Target that my DS loves. Puzzles are great. Blocks. My son loves his xylophone and race car track.

    We received a lot of cool books, clothes, toys. I admit that one of the most generous gifts was actually the start of a college fund for T and a gift certificate for a restaurant and a night of babysitting for us. Call it selfish but T still plays with all the same toys and didn't even know any difference.

    Love the tunnel, balls and cabbage patch doll. SIL loved them growing up and MIL thinks they are awesome.  You ladies have great suggestions thanks so much! She loves books and I bet blocks would be good too!  She is getting a ride on 'scooter' toy for christmas that was DH's and is being restored, so we don't need that.

    DD went to a friends house and they have a miniature grand piano and she LOVED it and my mom has played for many years so I think she is giving her one of those now (unassembled its a reasonable size to bring with us in our SUV).

    DD loved the pull along wooden dog and push along lady bug she got from my grandparents this year and maracas she got from a friend. Nothing big but easy to get from Amazon and don't clutter the house up like lots of big things.
