Newborn Photo Ideas

I've been checking out Pinterest and other places lately to get some newborn photo ideas that I like. My photographer does a lot of newborn photo shoots, so for the most part I will just follow her lead. However, I wanted to have a couple ideas of my own too.

Here are a few of my favorites:

We may have to drug our black lab to get him to lay down to do this, but I guess it would be worth it Wink

I definitely want a picture or two with DH's gear.

My nephew had a picture done with a lemonade theme. One of them he was on top of a tin filled with lemons, and there was a chalkboard next to it that said, "Squeezed daily"

And I love you too. And I love your Labor Buddies Siggy. It's so freaking cute and hilarious - it fits you ladies well.

I love the "squeezed daily" idea.

I love the dog ones!!! Here are a couple of ideas that we're using;

My mom gave us a little baseball hat, so we're going to buy a big baseball mitt and put Baby in it wearing a diaper and the hat and have baseballs kinda laying around it.

We got a knit "veggie" cap that we'll put him in and take pics of that. Then probably just a lot of squishy baby pics with random props around the house.

I'm doing his newborn photos, so the possibilities are endless.

I have the one with the white lab pinned....I showed DH and he started talking about how that wouldn't be safe (and I'm usually the worrier). He said he's afraid our basset hound will roll over on our baby...but our basset lays like that for HOURS a day. Anyways like your pics.

I hope to get some with my DH in uniform or the baby in his boots. There's a few I really like. My dog is small and will not let the baby lay on her I am sure.

I have all of those pinned

We want pics with DHs gear, and our photog has a fire truck peddle car as well. We also have two newborn hats for her and the blanket my grandmother made for me before she passed. And, if we can get our boxer to cooperate, I'll be eternally grateful.

Adorable!

The only thing I know for sure is a friend is making me a newborn headband with matching tutu. I love those shots!

I love the idea of laying the baby on a book...we may have to look through our books and pick one out. Maybe one of DS's favorite books and he can be "reading" to her?

I'll mostly be going with what my photographer wants. We're doing it in her studio partially so that we'll have access to all of her stuff. Also because I don't want to have to worry about having a clean house at that point and we don't have a ton of natural lighting.

I think I am going to try my hand at a few of the NB shots with the dog, because she is a nut case around other people, but H and I can get her to lay down and be calm. I have not thought about NB pictures yet, except the 1's I would like to take, plus I'm cheap. I have 1 Photographer in mind, she did our wedding pictures, but I think she has only ever done 1 other NB session.

Make sure you send those to your photog in advance and don't be too disappointed if they don't work out. They are super cute but it take a lot of patience practice and time to get some of those poses and involving an animal really adds another element. It's not like you juSt lay the baby there and snap. also I hope you photog isn't afraid of dogs

I'm doing the picture in the gear too. I want a picture with the dogs but didn't know how to get them to sit still, thank you for the drug idea!!! I need to get me some Benadryl.

I saw one that I absolutely love, but I'm on my phone so I can't post it. Baby boy is all curled up in the back of a little yellow dump truck. It was adorable!

I love the gear shots! Maybe I'll put LO on an excel spreadsheet since MH is a CPA? Tax forms? Not so much.

Maybe get LO a little pocket protector and tie? Stick out tongue

Oh my gosh I never thought about drugging my dog! I have been trying to figure out how I could get him to be so calm, I think a LOOOOONG run with DH and a benadryl would do the trick Luckily I am doing the newborn photo's so I work at it for days!

I haven't decided f I will do one with my husbands USMC gear... I don't know that he'd be super stoked about that. I do plan on doing some with just him and baby, and also a few with my husbands Triathlon "stuff"

I LOVE the one with the baby laying on the bible with the verse "For this child I prayed" totally fits us since this kid was 5 years and fertility treatments in the making!

HAHA PUHLLLEEEESE do pictures with tax forms! My best friend is an accountant so I will have to give her this idea for when she has kids. That made me laugh!

I love you both. But I confess I don't know what the labor buddy picture is.
Toni - I have all those pictures pinned (except the firefighter). The book is my #1. I also want a baseball themed picture, otherwise we're just following the photographer's lead.

I don't know either! Mel made about 10 of them and we liked this one the best.

DH gave me his St Matthew necklace and I wore it all the time so when DS was born, I was given a St James necklace. To keep the tradition going, I'm going to get a St Leo necklace. I'm kicking myself for not doing this pic with James when he was little but I'm going to try to find a way to do it with him now and get one like this of Leo.

Other than that, I want a sweet one of the two boys and whatever the photographer wants to do.
