I'm going to be fat forever

My high maintenance baby is so much work. I've never been so tired in my life. I start out my day well, lots of protein and fiber...but it goes downhill from there. I'm so flipping tired but since my baby doesn't sleep, I don't either. Then I crave all the easy junk I can eat while holding my needy baby. Then when she finally goes to sleep for the night ps it's 11:37 pm and she's still awake all I have the energy for is wine lots!! and dessert. OMG I feel disgusting and have a ton of baby weight to lose but this is flipping impossible! : Plus I'm nursing and I'm starving 24/7. Ugh. Pity party, table of 1 right here. I'm feeling more and more overwhelmed every day. But I don't know if it's just the lack of sleep and extreme exhaustion or PPD creeping in? There is no point to this post. :

  • I'm so sorry. I know it's hard. Maybe have some family or DH watch her for awhile and take some much needed you time. Hopefully it'll get better.

  • I share your pity party - BFing makes me starving all the time too.  With DS1 I didn't feel more normal until he started eating solids more and less BM.. I want to say around 7-8 months that I finally lost the last weight.  I also start the day well but then with 2 kids it's so exhausting and after dinner all I want is chocolate and wine.  Endorphins!  Hang in there, it will get easier as LO gets older and sleeps more, I promise:))

  • I totally feel your pain. It's a little after midnight and she is still awake. She has been going down at about 8 and then sleeps til about 9 or so, and then is up until usually 1 am. I don't know where this crazy schedule comes from, but I'm trying to adjust it to better hours and it's obviously isn't going very well. My two oldest get up around 8 am, and school starts in a couple of weeks! Then they'll be getting up at 6 :( I'm EBF also, so it's not like H can help feed her, and I don't have any family around here that can help. I start my day off right, then it's easy access food. Even when I reach for fruits and veggies, it doesn't seem to fill me up! I'm trying not to be so hard on myself, but I have serious body image issues and don't know how to get past it. I supposed we can have a pity party together :)

  • I'll join the pity party!  I don't see much more weight coming off until he's sleeping better. Exhaustion is not a friend of weight loss, unless it's acceptable to drink pots of coffee, but LO isn't a fan of that approach.

This damned MSPI diet we're trying is also making it extremely difficult, as most of my go-to high protein snacks are dairy based. Although it does also remove a whole bunch of not helpful foods like ice cream and most chocolate, though then I have no restraint around things I can eat, like Oreos and Rice Crispy squares.

    We'll get there eventually!

  • Awe, I am sure you are beautiful. I've always been overweight, I have PCOS and Insulin Resistance which makes it really hard to lose weight and easy to put it on just by eating normally. I know how frustrating it is. I am breastfeeding as well (well pumping) and expected so much more for the weight loss. I am hungry all the time as well and eating oatmeal all the time to help boost my breast milk supply. I have never found bfing to be this beneficial thing to me but do feel like it is for her so I am sticking to it as long as I can. Good luck to you. Maybe you can take a day to make a few days worth of healthier options just to grab. I am trying that more now but still finding it really hard to lose the weight.

  • I'm way late to the party, but I agree that you're probably beautiful, even if you don't feel it. I know that EBFing means it's hard to even take a break from everything, but even if you can get a break from holding LO for a little bit, it'll be a huge relief. As for weight loss, I'm right there with you. Everyone kept telling me that the weight would just fall off, especially if I BF. Yeah. Not so much. 6 weeks PP, I was still up 3 sizes by squeeeezing into a pair of pants. Now, at almost 5 months, I'm still up 2 sizes, but could grossly squeeze into a size bigger. I have to go back to work now, and not a single thing in my wardrobe fits my lower half. Skirts don't even work, because they all have zippers and would set right below my bra. I'm actually hoping that going back to work will give me a better routine to eat healthier and stay more active, instead of sitting with LO all.day.long.

*Don't get me wrong. I love my LO more than anything in the world and would stay this size forever if it was best for him. I'm just grasping for things to make going back to work easier.

Hang in there. I hear it gets better.
