Okay, my boys are 3 1/2 months old ( 1 1/2 mon adjusted) and my pedi said that we need to transition them out of the RNP into their cribs. I tried this about a month ago without success. We went through two nap sessions and neither boy slept much at all. I am giving it a go again today with the same results. They HATE their cribs! I've put them in there drowsy and I've even tried putting them in there asleep...NADA. They are use to having boundaries being in the nicu for over 7 weeks each and then we started them off at home in their RNP. Can you guys share how you were able to successfully transition your babies into their cribs?? I am one stressed out momma right now with two very sleepy, cranky, angry babies.
Re: Rock-N-Play Transition to the Crib (DISTRESS)
..we just moved them around 3 months. They did great and seemed happy. No issues....you might be surprised....nighttime sleep preference can be different than nap preference. And they change so much it may work out now.
Many do keep their babies in them longer....why does your pedi say to switch?

I started with putting them in a crib for a few minutes to play. Then the day I wanted to transition naps I fed them in our room like always and then took them up to their room to play on the playmat and then put them both in one crib when they showed sleepy cues.
Then the next day we didn't do any naps in the crib, but went in the cribs at night. It may have also helped that they had their shots that day. I just figured that it might confuse/upset them if they woke up in the dark in an unfamiliar place.
We tried at 8 weeks and it didn't go very well. We tried again at exactly 3 months per our pediatricians rec. also for head shape concerns. The first night has a few wake ups, but overall wasn't bad. They have done great since.
Naps are another story. Theyve never been good nappers. We continue to work on daytime naps in the cribs, but they still wake up almost immediately.
