Purple feet?

I've noticed lo's feet turning purple quite often lately. I've had family and friends comment on it bc its happening so often, and my grandma is now freaking out over it. It happens in any position, lying down, sitting alone, etc, but I see it more often and more severe (ie deeper purple/blue and higher on his leg) when he has his feet dangling (being held, in a high chair, carrier, stroller, standing while holding something, etc), even though it doesn't seem like their is any way that his circulation could be cut off. He's not cold when it happens but he doesn't seem fussy with it. Its happening almost daily now and dh said hes noticed it too. I don't ever remember our first having his feet turn purple. Anyone else's lo doing this? Thoughts?

Re: Purple feet?

  • This used to happen to DD all the time. Turns out we were putting her diaper on too tight. If there's nothing to be hindering circulation I would ask pedi.

  • I hadn't even thought about the diaper being too tight. I don't think we put it on that tight, but I will definitely be more aware and see if theres any difference with a looser diaper! Thanks! And I plan on calling.the pedi Monday (I tried to call this afternoon but forgot that they were changing offices today and would be closed this evening!)
