Seperation anxiety at night?

So DD has been a great sleeper for the most part, sleeping 10-12hrs a night, only waking up maybe once a week in the middle of the night but would go back to sleep pretty easily.

She got her first 2 bottom teeth about a month ago with really no problems. In the last couple of weeks though she has been waking up screaming in the middle of the night at least twice and nothing really helps unless we pick her up and sit with her awhile till she can calm down. And in the last couple of days when we lay her down at night and leave the room she immediately rolls on her stomach to see us and cries at us as we leave the room.

She never used to do this, we would always just lay her down while she was still awake and she would maybe roll around for 10 minutes or so and then fall asleep on her own.  We have a good bedtime routine where we are with her in her room for a good 15 minutes at least. Last night she was crying for about an hour (off an on when we would go back in and try to soothe her) before she finally fell asleep and still woke up twice doing the same thing.

Just wondering if anyone thinks this is seperation anxiety or something else? During the day she is pretty good about us leaving the room , she even does great when we drop her off at the sitter. She doesn't do this at naps either - she takes 2 hour to two hour naps a day with no issues. I guess it could be more teeth coming in but we tried tylenol last night and it didn't seem to help. Any ideas??? sorry this was so long!

Re: Seperation anxiety at night?

  • When DD was going through separation anxiety she would do this same thing.  We would just rock her to sleep and then put her in her crib once asleep.  Most of the time that worked but there were a couple of times where we had to pat her back or sit by her crib till she fell asleep.  It only lasted a couple of weeks and then DD was over it.  She's back to her normal self and falls asleep on her own without crying.
