Apparently my kid should have a cooler name

So I was having labs drawn today and the tech was making the usual small talk.

"Oh what are you having?" "A boy"

"Do you have a name picked out?" "Yep, Simon."

At this point she kind of looked at me funny "Oh are you naming him after someone?" "No..." insert funny look from me.

"Oh well see you're young so I thought you'd have a cooler name for him." "Oh..."

I'm guessing by "Cooler" she meant youneek.

Yeah, we've gotten mostly positive remarks for our choice (which is rather traditional), but one "friend" acted snotty about it because I think she thinks it's not cool enough.

What?? Simon is an awesome name! It was on our list of possibilities for boy names. I only knew one Simon growing up and haven't met a single kid named Simon. It is plenty unique without being "youneek." Plus, it is absolutely adorable in the sib-set.

I just loved her reasoning "Oh you're younger"

So that automatically means I'm going to name my kid something "different"?

I'd hate to know what she would think if she knew my olders names, they're pretty boring. Heck DD's name was #1 in 2010.

I love that name Simon and I do think its unique enough. It is for people like that that my husband and I chose to keep our baby girls name a secret we have not told anyone and people won't find out till she is here and in our arms
