When we found out we were pregnant my aunt offered to throw us a baby shower. We originally planned it for mid-January but once we found out it was twins we decided to rethink that.
We are planned now for November 10th and I will be 26 weeks. My question is the shower is 4.5 hours away... is this too far to drive this far into my pregnancy? We were hoping to do the trip there and back in one day but can spend the night if necessary. I know I will probably need to stop several times to stretch my legs, potty etc.
I know I will need to make sure my dr. is ok with this as we get closer etc but I was more asking from yall's experience with comfort at this time. I honestly don't want to do it any sooner but would hate for everything to be planned and then decide it's not going to happen. I'm a FTM so I'm a little lost at what to expect size wise and now with twins I am really lost lol.
I am just very grateful all my extended family wanted a shower with us so far away so I want to do what will make it most possible and easiest. I am not as concerned about the shower SO's family is throwing (local 10 minute drive) which is the first weekend in January at 33 weeks.
Thanks in advance ladies!!!

I had my baby shower at 28 weeks, a 9 hour car drive away. My doctor was fine with it (she did a cervical check and ran some tests before I left, just so everyone could have peace of mind). We split up the drive into two days on the way there, but drove straight through on the way back.
It was definitely uncomfortable, but manageable. I brought a pillow for my back, lots of water, and we stopped every 2 - 2.5 hours so I could stretch/go to the bathroom, etc. Very manageable for me, but every woman and every pregnancy is different. I got my first feet swelling after that trip, though, so I know I pushed myself a bit too much (including being on my feet for the shower, running around seeing friends and family, etc.). I realized when we got home that I would not have wanted to do an out of town shower any later than 28 weeks with twins. My discomfort level has really ratcheted up since then!
As long as your doctor OKs it and you're feeling good, this type of trip at 26 weeks should be fine. But I would encourage you to consider spending the night so you don't have to do all of that in one day. Even the shower itself is a lot on your body, because you're up and down, greeting people, thanking people, getting your bump rubbed, etc. It's best to rest as much as you can!
I talked to my OB about it last visit and he said as long as we can stop frequently (1.5 hours at a time) and I can sit comfortably he did not see an issue with it but he did say that might totally change as I grow and progress.
I am more worried about the one way drive than both as we can spend the night if needed.
I am crazy for attempting a 4-5 hour drive at 26 weeks pregnant with twins?

I think the drive is fine as long as you are up for it. just bring things with you to make you as comfortable as you can. my shower was held at 33 weeks so i think your is perfect. i was miserable and didnt get to enjoy myself that much...plus my mom held it at my house since its bigger than hers, and i had to clean up! (she helped but there are always things to do yourself no matter who helps).
i ended up delivering early at 35 weeks. whew! close one!
I don't think your crazy at all! I went on a 3 hr road trip at 32 weeks, my doctor said it was fine. I just made my husband stop every 2 hours so I could walk around, and brought my pillow and Tylenol I was good to go!!
