Toddlers opening public bathroom doors

Soooo...took the kids today to their 2 year old well kid check.

I was proud that we made it through the appointment with minor melt down and minor destruction of the room.

I needed to use the ladies room.  So on our way out we go en masse to the rather large single person bathroom.  We all walk in and I lock the door.  I look at the door thinking it's a lever door and the kids might try to open it.  Nah I think.  They wouldn't dare.

I start to empty my very distended bladder and midstream my daughter starts opening the door.  The door faces the very, very packed WAITING ROOM.  I super kegeled like never before and ran to get the door closed.

OMG.  I have no idea how many people saw me....but I have to reason to believe it was at least a few.

I distracted them with the toilet paper roll for the rest of my business.  Then DD dipped her hands into the toilet water.

Oh geez louise.  Just when I thought we had things under control.

  • Oh yikes!  This is what I have to look forward to I suppose.  At least it gives you a good story.  Maybe in 10 years it will seem funny.  *hugs*!

  • This is what everything looks like with my children.  Going to the bathroom sucks.  I always make sure Emerson has done her business before we go to do anything and I don't let her drink a thing while we are gone.

  • I hope.   :)

DS also locked DH out of the house a few weeks ago while I was at work.

See....infant carriers and DSNG aren't so bad.

  • That is too funny! One of those moments where you think, "At least these people will never see me again." Right?!?

  • LOL! My DS started opening the door on me at the airport the other day! And while we were on vacation he dunked his hands in the toilet and "washed" his face before I could grab him! thankfully it was at my aunt and uncle and not a public toilet! Kids are gross lol.

  • Landry took her diaper off yesterday and pooped in the middle of the living room floor.  Thank God I found it before Hudson did!  Good times, good times.

  • Been there! Not quite so exposed but Eli has opened the door many a time and I spend most of my bathroom time saying, Don't touch that!

Too funny!!  That's why I do everything possible to not have to go to the bathroom when I'm out with the girls.  Now that they are potty trained though, it's a whole other ballgame.  I have one girl that insists on using her own stall.  We were at a restaurant one of the first times she did this and I think she used it fine but couldn't figure out how to open the door, but decided to just climb underneath the door.  I was thinking "great, the space under these doors is kind of narrow, but I guess I can climb under it to unlock the door".  Thankfully, while I was trying to figure out what to do, her sister climbed under and unlocked the door.  One of the benefits of having twins!!

  • I am convinced that people who design public restrooms have never had a toddler.

I've been victim of the mid-stream open myself - or the 'lets crawl under the stall and see what that person is doing' trick.
