Our boys are here - thoughts & prayers please!!

Our boys arrived Monday night via C-section. I promise to write a birth story later but in the meantime Im requesting thoughts & prayers. We were released from the hospital with 1 baby today but the other baby has been in the "transitional nursery" since early Tuesday morning. He originally had low blood sugar which has been regulated but today he had a desaturation episode so they wouldn't release him. They will monitor him until tomorrow & if no more episodes (& he meets his other goals), he will be released tomorrow. We are able to stay in a "rooming in" room at the hospital tonight but will need to go home tomorrow. I can't bear the thought of leaving one of them here so your thoughts & prayers are appreciated!

  • Congratulations!!  Hang in there, momma.  Desat episodes are VERY common for babies born early (even though you made it really far - good for you!).  Fingers crossed all goes well tonight and he'll be home with you before you know it.

  • Those first few months are hard.  I'm so glad that it will only be a day or two for your LO before he gets to join the family at home.  Hang it there mama...this time will become a blur...I promise!  Congrats on your sweet babies!!!

  • I can understand this completely.  Our daughter was able to come home with us but our son was in the level 2 NICU for a week after we left.  Having her at home and having to drive 45 minutes each way to only see him for about 2 hours per day was super hard.

Our son wasn't feeding correctly and had to have a feeding tube in.  I've never cried so hard and cheered someone on so much all at the same time.

You will be so relieved and exhausted when you get your other little one home.  Hang in there!

  • Congratulations and I hope you get to take him home very soon!  Leaving them is super tough but just remind yourself that he's with the most professionally trained childcare provider he'll ever have.  Good luck to you.
