My exH sent me a pic of a pic of our DD. They had family pics done & so he wanted me to see a really good one of her. So one of the women in my office said "ooh let me see" (*she is new here - 3mos or so, I was showing a co-worker who actually knows my DD) So I showed her the picture and her exact words were "Oh, she is the reason old men go after little girls" WTAF IS THAT? Who says that? I just blinked a couple times & walked away. I am still speechless over this one.
Re: How would you have responded to this comment? NPR
Out loud I would have said, "I'm not sure what you mean by that?" and waited for a response..
In my head I would be saying, "what the fluck are you talking about??!!"

She would be hearing the same thing from me too.
What an effed up thing to say.
i would have been the furthest thing from nice.
i probably would have really had to hold back from punching her, and i know for a fact i would have told her that is NOT appropriate.
EWWWWWW.
I probably would have been just as stunned into speechlessness as you. But if I could recover words, I would have had to say something along the lines of
"No, actually old men who go after young girls are perverts. It has everything to do with their twisted minds and shriveled di*ks and nothing to do with whether a child is cute."

edit: I'm still fuming! How dare that woman! I'm so sorry that anyone could be so tackless.

What the...
I would love to think I'd have some kind of horribly sarcastic and biting response that would embarrass the crap outta her, but I'm sure I would've been speechless, too.
Wow.
I would have asked her what socially inept hole she crawled out of, then would have proceeded to poke her in the eyeball.
What a douchecanoe.
Because they monitor our emails, I sent one to my office manager first. I let her know that the more I sit here with this on my mind, the more it is upsetting me. She said that she is sure that she meant nothing by it & that she most likely meant it as my DD was very pretty for her age. She also reminded me that the co-worker doesn't have kids. She doesn't have kids & she doesn't have any class. It's a good thing it's Friday.
I second this. That's insane. I do think you should email her though LB.
Yeah that makes sense. Obviously it's not worth losing your job over. It was just completely out of line and disturbing, so hopefully you'd be able to feel a little better about it after letting her know exactly how and why it was such a disturbing comment. Hopefully, not seeing her until Monday will help with that though.
