We had to wait because I had breast cancer when I was age 30.

Now I am 37 but will be 38 when we have our 2nd baby in March.

We wanted to get it done before we were 40.

We have a 10 month old already - so they will be 18 months apart and I am already old.

Are we nuts?

I had to wait because of a bunch of health problems including bladder cancer at 30. I will be 38 when I have the first in March and hope to have one more before 40 if it is possible. I don't think that you are nuts at all.

Nope. I'm pregnant now with the my 2nd. I would have done 2 under 2 but it took a little longer than expected to get pregnant. Though I have been more tired with this pregnancy - I haven't figured out if it's because I already have one or I'm just old. I'll be 40 when I give birth!

I don't think it's nuts at all. Depending on where you live, there are many women who are mothering two young kids in their late 30s/early 40s. I just visited my friend in Berkeley, CA where older moms are extremely common (young moms are less common). No one bats an eye there that I'm 43 and pregnant...and my friend knows a woman who had her second at 50!!! (OK, maybe that IS too old).

I know it sounds/feels overwhelming

I have a 9 month old, and when this LO is born, I will be 39. They will be 17 months apart...eeeeks! I have heard that the first year is hard, but since they will be so close in age, they usually end up being "best friends" and it gets easier. I completely understand how you feel!

I'll have this one just before I turn 38, and will also have a 4 yo and 2yo. Not nuts! I have lots of friends having kids in their late 30s.

Nah, not at all! #2 is due to be born 8/22, DD's 2nd birthday is 9/8 and I'll be 38 on 9/22. It'll be a hoot! For the record, I don't think I've fully come to grips w/ what exactly I'm getting myself in to. LOL.

Well, we'll all be nuts. I'll be 35 with 2u2 too! I'm already exhausted being in my 3rd tri chasing around a toddler. I can't imagine how it will be with 2 busy kids.

Well, it will be challenging for you when you are in your late 2nd trimester and your 3rd trimester. Your first child will be walking and wanting you to hold them. And it is not as easy to keep up with a toddler when you are pregnant. I was on hospital bedrest for the later part of my pregnancy, so my husband had to take care of our son.

As well, a toddler and an infant can go in different directions. It is good to have a good double stroller that makes things easy for you. I am 40 years old, and I have a 2 year old and a 3 months old now.

I do not think you are crazy. A lot of people want 2 children, and you have a limited time period to have those children due to your age. I do wish that I had spread them out more, but it did not work out that way. And I feel so blessed with the kids that I got. They are perfect, and I would not change anything about when they came.

Ok I won't have 2u2, but I agree with everyone else. We're doing what we think is the best for our kids & we will be better parents because we have wisdom on our side. ; ) FTR: I'll be 43 when LO is born.

I met my DH when I was 30, go married at 32, then had 8 years of unexplained infertility. We had our first (DD) spontaneously when I was 40 and are now expecting our second at 43, also spontaneously (meaning no fertility drugs or treatment). Except for the infertility, I feel like we did everything in the right order and at the right time for us. Age is only a number. Someday you will look back at 38 and smile that you thought it was "old".

I'm glad to know I am in good company. My DD just turned one on 8/2/11 and our DS is due 11/30/12. I will be just be turning 38 when he is born. so if you are nuts I'm afraid to ask what that makes me. LOL
