Tylenol scare!!

I am having horrible sinus problems right now, and had a massive migraine earlier. I took 2 Tylenol (normally I only take one, but this was brutal). I just realized I grabbed the extra strength one-so by taking 2, I took 1,000mgs. I am freaking out!! I haven't taken any in a while, so I know there was none in my system before taking it. Should I call my doctor? Help!

    I am not a doctor, but I am a nurse.  I think that a one time dose of 1,000 mg isn't going to hurt you.  A normal healthy adult should not exceed 4,000mg of tylenol in a 24 hour period as your liver can't handle it. If you are so worried you will lose sleep over it, then call.  But I am sure you are fine. BTW, I have taken 1000 mg of Tylenol while pregnant.

    According to my OB I can take regular or extra strength tylenol, following the direction on the package for dosing amounts. While I haven't taken it frequently, all I have in my house is extra strength. You're good.

    You can take two extra strength. That's fine. I take 2 extra strength. Each tablet is 500 mg. It's fine or that's what the doc told me!

    That's a normal dose. Just don't take it more often than every 6 hours.

    That's just a regular dose of tylenol, no need to worry.  And tylenol by prescription comes in even higher a dose, so I would not worry at all.

    I have a nasty virus....fever of 102, headache, body aches and I have been taking 2 extra strength every 6-8 hours. As a physician assistant and mom of a toddler if I didn't have it in me I wouldn't be able to function today. You are ok.

    While the recommendations have changed for OTC Tylenol, we frequently give 1000 mg in the hospital to adults. It will be fine.

    You will be fine!  800mg is a prescription strength dose so you just took a little more than that.  Just keep that in mind next time!
