Pregnant after 35

I have to find a new OB

I got released from my RE this morning.  Happy times and the baby waved to me during the ultrasound.  Then I called my OB's office.  She now only delivers at a hospital that is over an hour away from my house during non-rush hour.  It could easily take me 2 hours to get there or even longer during rush hour.  I don't think that is wise considering that over 30 babies are born on the beltway each year because their mothers don't make it to the hospital in time.

My OBGYN has been with me for 14 years and has done 4 multiple surgeries on me.  Now I have to start over.  I feel lost.

  • That's so cute your baby waved at you!

Sorry to about hear your OB- maybe she can refer you to someone you can trust?

  • I'm so sorry. I had to find a new Ob/gyn too because mine stopped practicing obstetrics. Luckily I was able to get an appointment with someone who was recommended by friends. I have my first appointment with her in 2 weeks and I can't wait to see the baby again. My RE released me last week.

Do you have friends who could recommend someone to you? Sorry you are starting over.

18 cycles (3 with our RE) - Metformin + Clomid + HCG booster did the trick!

  • Booooo, it's scary having to find a new OB. We switched at 30 weeks. But we both like the new OB better. 14 years is a long time but I hope you can get a good referral and find somebody new that you like and trust. Good luck!

  • My RE gave me a few referrals.  I just have to figure out which hospital takes my insurance and is better.  Most of my friends and all of my friends with babies are in the suburbs.  I really don't want to go outside of the city so they can't help me.

  • I found someone that came highly recommended and is associated with my RE.  He looks 12 in his photo.  He finished his residency last year.  I think that I may be almost old enough to be his mother.  Good news is that they might do another ultrasound next week.

  • Ugh, that is so unfortunate! Hopefully she has a good referral for you so that you can at least get in with a doctor that's known and trusted by one that you know and trust. FX for a good doc match soon!
