Oh, help these poor children when they're older.

I was just out walking my dog at our new apartment complex. I met a woman with 2 children. We got to talking and she told me their names were Arianna (not my favorite but okay) and Audrey (one of my favorite names). She then told me they had their introduction to pre-school today. They ran over to come and pet my dog and they had name tags on from the day at school. 

Arianna is spelled R'ieahnnah (no joke) and Audrey is spelled Aw'dree.

I nearly died. Why, oh why, must someone butcher Audrey so horribly? Why?

    How awful.  I really love both of those names and can not fathom why someone would insist on butchering the spellings.

    Whaaaaaaaaaaat.... I'm normally not a stickler on spelling, but that's atrocious.

    That's just wrong.  I hate it for those poor girls.  The embarrassment they will endure in school and the money they will have to fork over to legally change the spelling when they turn 18.

    Kind of reminds me of the story my DH came home with. He is a Paramedic in the local ER. They had a patient named A-Ah. They had no idea how to pronounce it when calling them. They say AY-ah. The patient corrected them rather rudely that it was pronounced  AH-dash-ah !! Oy !
