DE IVF for non-gazillionaires

Just for those of you who are interested, as Mc Irish posted about her lower cost option that she found for DE. We found one as well.

The cost of IVF with donor eggs is quite manageable, relatively speaking, in Czech Republic. I am happy to share my research with anyone who wants to know. I've visited a few clinics personally. Donors are 100% anonymous in CR and the costs range from 4,500-6,000 Euros- donors meds are included, but you must pay for your meds (about 300 Euros.) Most clinics require you to show up only for the ER-ET, and can chat with you for consultation via email, phone or skype. Your required monitoring and tests can be done at home.

For reference, the clinic we chose costs 4,500Euros We are paying extra for a few things. 500Euros for continuous embryo monitoring (instead of once daily monitoring) and 200Euros for PICSI. Success rates for clinical pregnancy (fetal heartbeat) for this clinic is 63%. They have a guarantee for this price - 2 high quality blasts for fresh transfer and minimum 2 high quality blasts to freeze. An FET costs 600Euros.

Donor embryos are also available and quite successful but I did not investigate the costs.

I just thought I would throw this out there for those of you considering DE but feel priced out. Its not for everyone, but it might be something to throw in your hat.

Thanks for sharing this!! I am in the US so it seemed very far fetched when I mention/asked on the IF board last year?? and it is nice to hear more information from someone using one of the clinics.

I think there is someone on the Adoption board who used donor embryos from the Czech Republic and was successful. If anyone is interested, you could try posting over there to see if she would respond.

Also the donor embryo option here in the US can be very affordable. It depends upon which route you take and if you go through an agency or your RE's office or a storage clinic or a personal match. When I did it, I only had to pay the regular cost of a frozen embryo transfer and my meds (which are considerably less than stim meds for an IVF cycle). Spent about $3-4K total. Just wanted to throw that option out there too.

Its actually easier than you can imagine! Its just a mental hurdle to fly so far, but the rest is totally manageable. The clinic coordinators are used to people traveling far and wide as many countries here in Europe and beyond don't allow DE IVF. They are loaded with doctors and coordinators who are fluent in other languages, and are prepared that most people who are using their services will only be there once or twice. Hope that helps!

This is something we've been looking into-did you go through your clinic? Or an agency?

We did CR on our own, and it has been very easy so far. On another site, I know there is a woman who is an avid poster who is also a "concierge" for Czech clinics and her services are *far* less expensive than agencies and is a lovely lady. I think a concierge is money well spent if you aren't a big traveler, but if you are a person who has traveled internationally once or twice, it is pretty easy to do alone. Agencies tend to be a waste of money, in my humble opinion. They make some hotel suggestions, but you can find all the info you need on the net.

Maybe Karis can advise on the domestic side!

Yup! They are! There cost are quite high but they have a gurantee progam so it's still a consideration.
