Natural Birth

natural child birth anyone?

this will be my first but, have leaned to doing natural throughout my pregnancy. and i made the final decision two weeks ago and had an interview with my midwife. very sweet, gentle, considerate, down to earth and honest lady. unlike the doctors i had which totally sucked! and didnt seem to be very considerate.anyways im very compfortable with my decision just excited for my baby boy to be in my arms. i will be 32wks in two days. any home births or mom's that have had natural childbirth? i'd love to hear from you :)

Re: natural child birth anyone?

  • Awesome!  Good for you.  I wanted a natural birth with my first, but it didn't work out that way.  I was induced (which I realized a while after was unnecessary.  My water had broken and contractions didn't start right that second, so they acted like it was a must and didn't really give me a choice).  I had horrible nurses that came in every 15-30m to ask if I wanted the epi yet even though I had told them that I didn't want it.  I finally broke down when I was too nauseous to function (my bed rocked, and I get really bad motion sickness, and they were making me stay in it more than letting me out).  I got the epi and immediately regretted it.

With the rest of my labors, they were all homebirths.  I do hit transition and BEG dh to take me in for an epi, even though I 100% do NOT want one.  He knows it though, thank goodness, so he doesn't give in.  It's funny in hindsight when he tells me no when I'm in that crazed moment, but it's not funny during.  Just know that you might totally lose it labor and ask for things you don't really want.  Make sure your dh knows too.  I'm sure your mw is already familiar with that though.  lol  How exciting for you!

  • Congratulations on making that decision! I had a med-free hospital birth four months ago. Best experience of my life. I'm not going to say it was easy. It hurt like heck and was a lot of hard work. But the pain goes away immediately after the baby comes out and you feel amazing afterwards. We had visitors just two hours after the delivery and everyone kept marveling at how I did not look like I had just had a baby. I was full of energy and very upbeat. I didn't even feel tired! (Baby high lol). Immediately after his birth I was thinking about the next birth. I will definitely go med-free again, hopefully in a birth center this time.

I suggest reading as many natural birth stories as you can get your hands on. Try to stick to positive stories. Reading horror stories will not help you one bit. I also looked up unmedicated births on Youtube. That way you have an idea of what you are in for. Like I said, it is hard work, but totally worth it!
