Roseola? Sorry if it's a repeat.

I know a few babies on here have had a rash with blisters and whatnot but heres what I have going on...

On monday, A had a low grade fever all day and took really long naps. Seemed fairly lethargic.

Tuesday, still had a slight fever most of the day but napped normally and seemed to be in a good mood overall.

Today (Wednesday), I noticed a small rash on her chest this morning and by this evening it covered her chest, back and forehead.

My mom said she thinks its roseola but I am taking her to the pedi tomorrow anyway. From what I have read there is no treatment. Is this what other babies have had around here? Anyone with experience? How long did it last for you?

It contagious so I think she got it from the 19 month old across the street but dont know for sure.

  • Thats def doesn't seem like hand foot mouth (coxsackie virus). That is what some moms on this boards LO's have/had. Sounds like rosella to me. Hope she feels better!

  • Maybe Roseola, but the low grade fever makes me think it's something else.. With Roseola they usually have a high temperature for 3-5 days and then when the fever breaks a light rash appears. When my toddler had Roseola (she was 13 or 14 months) her temperature got so high we had to take her to the emergency room - over 105. It was high (at least 103) for about 5 days and then the rash appeared. I say it's worth a trip to the doctor.

THIS! When L had it his fever was very high, once the fever broke the rash appeared...the whole thing took about a week. The rash stuck around for 3-4 days.

Maybe it's teething, I've heard that can sometimes cause a rash...Agreed it's worth seeing the Pedi- just in case. GL!

  • Thanks everyone. Pedi said it was likely a virus and should pass on its own in a few days. My poor baby doesn't seem to want to itch the rash but isn't her happy self either.
