What is the latest you feel comfortable with them going away? My DH need to go to Chicago for at least 3 nights sometime in mid-late August. I'll be 37/38 weeks.
I was only in labor with DD for 5 hours so I really doubt he would make it, even if he took a direct flight.
Too risky? I can't decide if I should demand he stay.

Re: Husbands who travel for work
I'd be angry if my husband was away that close to delivery honestly. He stops travel next week and even that is irritating me a bit. Mostly because it's hard to handle a toddler, work full time, maintain the house & be as big as a house all by myself. Not because I'm fearing of going into labor this early.
I'd ask him to stay closer to home starting at 36 weeks for your own peace of mind. Unless you're comfortable with him being that far away.
MH doesn't travel for work, per se, but he does work a few cities over (about 2 hours away if you consider the traffic). He also works rotating shifts - days/afternoons/nights, 7 on 7 off. This freaks me out a little, so I am clueless as to how some of you ladies with H's who travel much farther for work are coping with the idea of them not making it home in time. *shudder* I hope none of your H's have trouble getting/being home for the birth.
Before we found out I was pg, H had already chosen his vacation time for 2012... and wasn't able to change it around after the fact so we'll be playing it by ear. MH works in law enforcement (in a very large city) so there is definitely a possibility that he could get stuck on a scene where he won't be able to just up and leave. The flip side, is that if we're lucky baby will decide to come on his days off... here's hoping!
I don't know what to tell you, I had asked that DH be local from 36 weeks on, but it looks like he will be in china for the two weeks prior to my edd.
I am PO'ed. His boss has and will continue to here about it from me and his former supervisor, who agrees that DH should not be gone at that time.
This is my thought. MH has a potential trip at 36 wks, and I'm ok with that. But 38 wks is too close.
When did you deliver your first LO?

DH has one trip left between now and estimated due date. He is only gone for 5 days but I'm not super comfortable with it as he will be back the day I turn 37 weeks. That being said he will only be a 2 hr plane right and then an hr drive away. The company is preparing and sending a second person with him in the event he needs to leave work there to be home. I'm hoping that being a FTM my labor will be long and we won't even have to worry about it.
In your case, I would DEFINITELY not be comfortable--especially with how short your first labor was. Do you have the ability to "demand" he stay? I know in our situation DH couldn't say no, that they just sent a second person as precaution. I'm sorry you are in this situation. NOT FUN!
