Retained placenta after C-Section. Uggggh!

Had cs 11 weeks ago. At 10 weeks pp I was still spotting so I called my ob and she had me come in for a scan. Turns out I have some retained tissue or placenta that's just "stuck" in there. It's not attached to my uterus, no blood flow which I guesss is good. My question is, should I have a d&c to remove it or should I wait and see if with my next period my body flushes it out as my ob thinks it will? Anyone have experience with this?? I'm so pissed that after all I've been thru I am still not done with this!

I am so sorry!  What a nightmare!  If your OB thinks it's safe to wait until our next period I may do that.  A d&c sounds painful.

What did your doctor say?  I'd probably wait until after my period to see, but I'd definitely take my doctor's advice.

TMI warning - If your ob says its fine to wait then I'd wait. I had this happen but they didn't catch it. I went in a couple of time due to what I thought was a really bad smell (tmi sorry). For me when it did come out I was nervous because I didn't know that could happen & I had no idea what had just happened. Depending on how large it is it can be pretty gross but for me it just slid right out. Good luck.

How long after your cs did it come out? I was thinking it was gonna stink. It has to, it's dead tissue. Ugh

    I can't remember exactly. I think about 5 weeks.

It's been almost 12 weeks for me. Hoping it comes out sooner than later! Thanks

I had a big retained tissue mass with DS1. I was told that there was no way there could be anything left behind and the bleeding I was experiencing was normal. I was 7 weeks post c-section and I passed the tissue on my own after what felt like I went into labor again. I was put back in hospital where they "helped" me pass what was left of the clots and tissue. It was HORRIBLE. Hopefully your OB is correct and you will pass the tissue. I was assured this time around that NOTHING would be left behind. I thought that I was hemorrhaging the last time and I told my OB that I never wanted to experience anything like that ever again.
