Had our first childbirth class last night...

I've purposely stayed away from watching birth videos, but, of course we had to last night!

Thank God I won't see it from that angle when I'm actually giving birth. Ouch.

This morning on the train into work, DH said there are two images he just can't get out of his head - the birth video, and, the picture I showed him of the 15wk fetus wrapped in cloth (not to bring up that fiasco again...)

I think he'll be standing by my head during the birth!

OMG i had to show the m/c baby pic to my DH too! i think he was pissed that i showed it to him!

but i love to watch births... ive seen so many episodes of a baby story ( i know thats different though) but i want to be as prepared as possible.

We saw a birth video at our first class and it freaked DH out. It wasn't the whole birth part but it was when the placenta came out. The dr in the video was basically holding up for everyone to see and then the lady wanted to touch it. It just grossed him out. I told him that he could stay up by my head and I'm sure the doctor won't be waving my placenta in the air.

Well, in the birth video we saw, the woman requested a mirror so she could see what was happening during birth. So, if it strikes your fancy, it's an option.

Hiya Crazy,

Which hospital are you going to deliver at? SG or HC? I am going to SG and my classes are through them as well.

Enjoy the videos, they only get better!!!
We go for class #4 of 6 tonight...this will be about c-sections...good times.

P.S. DH said he is going to saute the placenta and serve it to friend's and family at the baby's naming...wanna come??? *wretch*gag*

Luky - We're at HC. I had a meltdown the other night, because all of the HC birthing classes are actually full... until like February! So, we're taking a 3 session class through our doc's office, taught by a retired L&D nurse from HC. It should be fun, since BIL & SIL are taking it with us... and, so are some people we met a couple weeks ago who live just down the street.

DH got nauseous during the birth video we watched... I'm terrified he's going to pass out or puke during my labor! I told him he better have a chair nearby because I *need* him to be there for me. I can only imagine him passing out and getting a concussion or something while I'm in the middle of pushing. Plus he's notorious for not eating when he's excited/nervous... not a good combo.

i will deliver at Holy Cross too! but my classes are thru shady grove since they are right next to our house.
