Re: ~*~GD Check in~*~
Updates: How are you doing this week? Also, if you have any questions, list them here and hopefully someone will answer! Doing better this week. My doctor decided not to up my glyburide unless my fasting number is consistently high for 7 days in a row. Thats a relief because I was worried about maxing out in my meds this early. Also today my fasting number was 66. I have never had it that low. Anyone else?
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free" food? Green beans usually but I'm kinda getting over it so I'm curious to see some of the other answers.
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share? My mom found me some sugar free marble pound cake at Sprouts. I ate it with sugar free cool whip and strawberries and it felt like I was getting away with murder!BFP#1 on 02/14/09 BIRTH to Mason 6lb9oz on 10/12/09

Updates: This week has been great so far. My dietician said I've officially "graduated" from the Sweet Success program (special program for GD), although I obviously have to stick with the diet, blood testing every day until my due date. Only 4 more weeks to go! Also, I gained 1 lb from 2 weeks ago, yay!
Has anyone received steps to follow for after the baby is delivered? I just did and it turns out they want me to test for 2 weeks post-delivery Guess I'll have to wait a little longer to indulge in my long list of post-GD treats!
GTKY: My go to "free" foods are string cheese, baby carrots...don't know what else is considered "free"??
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share?: No, I'm SO sick of all the food I've been eating, but don't want to change things up too much since my numbers look good.
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share? Well my mom made sort of a mashed potato ground beef pie and I ate a lil bit too much of it so my BG was 129 I guess I should cut the portion a little bit and still enjoy it. ** A big thanks to andreay82 that suggested I try greek yogurt with a little fat free syrup. last night i tried half a cup of yogurt and some home made honey and my sugar was the lowest it has been in a week still not in the lower 90s or under 90 but lower than the 105-112 ive been having. It was also really refreshing and deliciosu.
Hi ladies - I'm new to the GD game, 18 weeks pregnant and just diagnosed last week, so I don't have much to contribute yet.
I do have one question though. At my first appointment with the nutritionist today, she looked at my food diary for the last week (when I was trying to do what I thought I should but didn't have my guidelines yet) and saw that I had sugar-free pudding, which she said is a no-no. I said "even the sugar free kind?" and she said yes, because it's a dessert.
I can live without sugar free pudding just fine, but I'm just curious why that is. She said I can have sugar free jello instead. I'm just confused what about it being a "dessert" is bad if it has no carbs?

Updates: How are you doing this week? Also, if you have any questions, list them here and hopefully someone will answer!
I'm doing well this week! I only had one off number for the past week, which is pretty good! Although i am getting very sick of eating the same things. I already have so many other restrictions on what i can eat (GERD, acid reflux, allergy cells in my stomach that are sensitive to specific foods, and hiatial hernia), that it's made having any sort of selection challenging. Although on the plus side, only a couple more weeks at most!
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free" food? String cheese, pickles, most veggies.
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share? Well the one number i had off was my going to subway and getting a sandwich (BLT minus T, on wheat, 6" ) and then fell asleep for 2 hours. tested and had a 133. =/ I was planning on doing a bunch of things, and just passed out. oh well.1999- Dx Prolactinoma

Updates: How are you doing this week? Also, if you have any questions, list them here and hopefully someone will answer! Hi, My name is Monica. I was diagnosed last Friday so its all pretty new to me. So far my numbers have been good. I am due October 25th with my first. A boy!
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free" food? My snacks have been string cheese with fruit or greek yogurt.
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share? My numbers have been good. I go back this Friday and I was told that if all my numbers are ok I will only have to check twice a day or 4 times every other day. Success- earlier in the week I had posted about havng coffee with milk or a lattte and I have been able to do so without any spikes!
This is my first week participating... I'm 27, this is my second pregnancy (last one was GD dx at 29 weeks, as well). DS1 was born on 3/25/10 after induction at 39w5d (diet/exercise only controlled) and weighed 8.12 and was 21.5 inches.
Updates: How are you doing this week? Also, if you have any questions, list them here and hopefully someone will answer! Was dx yesterday after failing the 3-hour... had my pity party and was super upset that my body is doing this to me AGAIN, even though I live a healthy lifestyle... also stressed out the MFM hasn't received the fax yet with my dx and therefore I haven't even been scheduled for my nutritionist appointment let alone the initial growth u/s!!!!!!! Luckily, I have a meter and strips already and know what my carb limits were last time- so I've been following them and had success so far (knock on wood)
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free"food? Still learning this part. I blocked it out from my last pregnancy LOL.
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share? Had 4 hot wings and 2 slices of pizza last night, and was at 127 an hour after! Hoping that continues.....
Updates: How are you doing this week? Also, if you have any questions, list them here and hopefully someone will answer!
My numbers have been great this week! I've been more consistent about measuring my food and tracking my carbs. I do find that I'm still hungry after meals sometimes. I usually wait an hour, test and see where I am, then eat a little something. I miss fruit! I use to eat tons of it. I sometimes do it now for a snack or if I have some carbs left in a meal.
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free" food?
carrots or smart popcorn (not really FREE, but pretty low carb)
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share?
I've found a couple new foods that I love - smart popcorn, snackwell choc pretzels (a girl needs a little chocolate :P ). I tried greek yogurt this week and thought it was okay.
Updates: How are you doing this week? I'm having a hard week..I have this sinus/allergy thing going on where my head is stopped up and I can't taste or smell anything, so I dont WANT to eat (I am still MAKING myself eat, but it's hard when you can't even slightly taste whatever you're eating). My #s are fine b/c I know what I can and can't eat, but it's not fun eating when you're not hungry.
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free" food? I don't have any, but I have seen alot of you talking about greek yogurt so I may have to give that a whirl..i tried regular yogurt when i was trying to regulate my #s with diet alone, and it spiked my #s like crazy, so I haven't eaten any since..but maybe greek yogurt will be different
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share? I'm not gonna lie- I had a piece of birthday cake at my friend's son's birthday party last week..it was delicious. Other than that, I have been doing good...my #s have been where they should be despite being sick and not being hungry.BFP #1 12/02/11, M/C 12/08/11
BFP #2 04/06/12, DD born 12/20/12
BFP #3 06/09/14, M/C 06/15/14
Updates: How are you doing this week? I'm depressed that I have to do this diet for 26 more weeks and scared that I will have diabetes once I've had my baby.
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free" food? Cheese sticks, the cheddar cheese kind and peanuts. Also celery and hummus.
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share? Someone on a post this week wrote that they eat waffles and I bought some eggo multigrain chocolate chip waffles that only have 15g of carbs per waffle and I put a little bit of whipped cream on top and butter. IT WAS SO GOOD.
Updates: How are you doing this week? Also, if you have any questions, list them here and hopefully someone will answer!
-I'm doing surprisingly great. My fasting numbers are in the 70's and 80's after breakfast... I have no idea what is happening since last week I was having a rough time with my numbers after dinner and having to be even more restrictive.
GTKY: If you are hungry after your meals, what is your go-to "free" food?
I'm hungry a lot, but I've upped my protein quite a bit. My go to free food is string cheese... but it's not very filling :
Any defeats/successes with food this week you want to share?
I caved and bought a caramel frapp at McDonalds and it took four hours until my BG was in normal range. I felt awful (physically, not that I slipped up, lol) and it was so not worth it I look forward to the day when I can treat myself occasionally. My midwife basically told me to stop beating myself up over it... I'm pretty hardcore about my diet. It was a learning experience for me.
