According to DH, I am picking on everything having to do with the Olympics. He says I'm taking the fun out of it. I need an outlet somewhere so please share in my annoyances/general observations about the Olympics.
First, how do the swimmers wear earrings under their swim caps? That has to hurt, not to mention how pissed they'd be if they lost one.
Second, some of the men swimmers have very obviously had their chests and/or backs waxed recently. It looks really funny.
Third, WTF is up with Ryan Sea.crest? Why is he commenting on anything? The spot about the twitter/social media was really stupid.
Fourth, how can these athletes keep a straight face when they win the gold and are standing on the podium hearing their national anthem? I mean, if there is ever a time in your life to lose it, now would be good. There's no shame in shedding a few tears, you just accomplished your life's dream.
Finally, those P&G commercials make me cry each time. The one with all the little kids competing. Ugh, gets me each time.

I think they are probably just used to wearing earrings. Think of how many times they have put on that cap and swam laps. Thousands and thousands. They probably have divots in their heads!
You know you have watched too much Olympic coverage when you see a guy in a swimsuit and think he looks weird with hairy legs. I watched diving earlier today and one of the guys on the American team (I think) had dark, hairy legs and it just looked odd. I will always think shaved pits on a guy is weird though. I think it is weird that some of the swimmers are dousing themselves with a water bottle before they go into the pool... You are going to get wet anyway...
DH calls Ryan Seacrest the Prince of Tools. I agree with him. Rumor has it that he is next in line to host Today once Matt Lauer leaves. That probably won't be for a while and won't end up happening. but yeah, he just looks pointless being there.
My biggest pet peeve so far: What was with the Russian gymnasts and their slutty makeup and glittery hair last night? Are they going clubbing after competing?

Truthfully, you don't really notice the earrings. Although I'm surprised they can wear them. When I swam on a summer league, we weren't allowed to wear jewelry when we swam..
The guys wax to get rid of drag. I guess I don't see what's so weird about it?
But I'm with you on Ryan Seacrest. Why is he even there?

The gymnasts don't seem to take it as seriously as I'd like them too. Their hair should definitely be pulled back in a bun or pony. Plus they're so giggly on the side.
Also last night I was hoping to see more footage of the Mag 7. *shakes fist* Where is the respect?!
Weirdest thing ever was hearing FMIL talk about how much she enjoyed watching them...
I just keep thinking that lot's of things the commentators say are slightly offensive to other counties.
Yeah, I know why they do it. I just thought it was funny to see all the little red bumps all over their chests. Gosh that has to sting a little... waxing and then jumping right into a pool.
Totally agree about the gymnasts' hair. What happened to a tidy bun?
I mean it makes sense to me that flipping through the air might mess up your hair..

OMG - and there was a guy yesterday who was, um, adjusting his, um, package. I was like "Whoa! I think you forgot there's a camera on you!"
And then there was a guy behind some of the gymnasts who was picking his nose. Heh.
The woman commentator for the male diving was driving me nuts - she sounds like Nancy Grace. (Which is nails on a chalk board to me.)
Yes, an no more seacrest or twitter trending or whatever. Ugh.
And - final comment! - I had a dream the other night that Michael Phelps made out with me! It was weird b/c I wasn't particularly attracted to him before. But now whenever I see him I get all tingly. Hee!
