Sleeping and milk issues

Dh will be 1 aug 11 and most night waking up twice a night and will only go back to bed with a bottle she eats three meals a day plus snacks througout I am exhausted and really thought by this point her sleeping would be better. I have tried CIO she doesn't respond well to it she can scream for hours. I know people say they will do it when there ready but I really feel like she will be 25 by the time she sleeps. She also  has been on milk now for a couple of weeks and gets very constipated from it and without a dose of miralax ever day she won't go to the bathroom my pedi says as long as the miralax works but I feel like there might be some kind of allergy or intolerance. I just don't know where to go from here

Re: Sleeping and milk issues

  • How many bottles is she getting during the day?  Could she really be hungry?  My LO is 10 months and wakes 3x per night and needs to BF to go back to sleep.  Right now I am working on adjusting his nap schedule to make sure he's not overtired.  I am hoping that takes care of the night wakings...otherwise, we may have to resort to CIO :(  The other thing I've heard of people doing it slowly adding water to their bottle until eventually they are just getting water.  I think the theory is that once they are not getting calories at night, they'll eat more during the day and stop waking at night.  I have not tried this yet.  Good luck - and I understand how tired you are!

  • Was she on milk based formula before? Like "normal" formula? If so an allergy or intolerance to milk is unlikely, or she wouldn't tolerate formula made from it either. It sounds like a sleep crutch problem and not so much a hunger issue.

  • Just commiserating.  My DD turns 1 on Aug 8 and was waking 2x a night last week; thankfully she returned to 1x a night the past few days (like it was a month ago for a while).  I expect it to bounce around a bit (especially since 1-yr molars are due).  I will be asking my pedi next week.
