night terror or sleep terror

in Babies: 9 - 12 Months
My son is 9 months and he is going through the night terrors for the last week and a half. It is so terrifying when he is has a episode and there is nothing you can do but stand back and make sure they are safe till it is over.  we saw the pedi and he confirmed this is what ishappening and he will eventually stop having them. anyone else going through or have been through this?????

    actually my pedi told me it is now happening in younger infants now. his eyes are closed and he is screaming bloody murder and with in 15min he stops. he usually has one 2 hours after he goes to sleep  and then again between 12 and 2 am. he will he get hot and his breathing is heavy. they have no recollection of it and they get a full night sleep.

    DS has those occasionally, and its' the only think I can think of to explain his behavior. He'll wake up and just start screaming. When I pick him up he's still screaming and it takes him a good couple of minutes to calm down. I haven't found anything that helps. I just snuggle him until it's over, then he goes right back to sleep.

    I had them when I was younger and grew out of them, my parents had to actually put a gate up in my room because I was having walking terrors, and would walk about the house screaming and throwing things. I think I was about 2-4 yrs. old. I don't remember anything happening now. But my mom said it was awful to go through. But they usually go away.

     

    I guess that wasn't really helpful, just letting you know, you're not alone. :)

    I think we may have had one last night for the first time. She was crying/whining/screaming in her sleep and then ended up waking herself up. When I went to get her her eyes were as big as saucers and she kept frantically looking around her room. It happened right around 11:30 adn we had a terrible time getting her back to sleep.

    usually they don't wake up they sleep right through it, my son does have the daze look and looks around but he is asleep the whole time.  He also thrashes his arm and legs. Was she hot to the touch or sweating also breathing may be heavy, never pick her up untill she notices you and is awake, when they have night terrors watch them and make sure they are safe in their surroundings. my son had 2 mild ones fell back to sleep and had a major one at 3:30 .  He was all over the place screaming scared look on his face he looked awake and he put his arms out to me and I picked him up. However he wasn't done have his night terror and made it worse and he was thrashing all over the place. It was truely a scary 20 minutes.
