Hi everyone, I'm new around here. I have a general question. I got my first BFP on 11DPO (Sunday), second one later that night and I even took another one the next morning to be sure. AF was not due until today...I noticed a small amount of brown discharge when I went to the bathroom. I freaked..so I waited and tested. BFN

I don't understand what is going with my body! Was it a false positive the whole time...or is there still a chance if I'm just spotting and AF doesn't come? Dr.'s office won't see my until 8 weeks..Thanks in advance for any advice on the topic..

Re: 4 BFPs then BFN on day of AF
Can you ask for a blood test? That doesn't require you to see a doctor, the nurse could give you the results over the phone. Also, the discharge could just be implantation bleeding, since AF is due.
I pray all is well!
Sorry you're going through this. What kind of tests are you using?
Blue dye tests are notorious for false positives. I would try to test tomorrow with FMU using a digital or FRER.
It's possible that it's a chemical pregnancy or it's possible that you're still pregnant and this will just be spotting. fingers crossed!
My little man at 0-1-2
BFP #2: 11-7-14, CP (BFN: 11-13-14)
BFP #3: 3/24/15 EDD: 12/5/15
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't implantation bleeding, if it happen, have to happen before you get your BFP? Technically speaking, if the embyo has not implanted then you would not have a BFP...right?
Either way, I think you should test again in the morning with a digi. If it is +, but you are still spotting, contact your doctor. If it is negative and AF shows, then I don't think a doctor's visit is in order.
Good luck!
I am sorry to say that it sounds like you may be experiencing a chemical pregnancy. I do have some questions though:
1) When you took the HPT, was it blue dye? Those are notorious for false positives.
2) Did you test first thing in the morning? If you are using diluted urine & are early on you could get a negative.
I hope you get positive results. You could ask for a blood draw to see if your betas (hormone #) are rising or falling. The worst your doctor can say is no. I would call your doctor's office & ask then for a beta draw. Don't lose hope yet if you can. I hope it all works out for a healthy pregnancy for you.

The first test was the FRER and the rest were clear blue digital.. Today, when i tested and got the negative it wasn't the first morning urine. Probably the third time i've gone this morning...I called the doc...nurse will be calling shortly..
boo
thanks for your help!
i cant say thats true! I had implantation bleeding 1 day after I found out I was pregnant. i guess it depends when you test.

FET #2 BFP! Due February 15, 2013
I think your right... Im pretty sure you can have implantation bleeding AFTER you've been implanted and got a BFP...
Im sorry OP, but it sounds like a CP. I hope its not though and you get good results.
Thanks Chancie! I thought so....spotting after your BFP would be something different, and is common (from what I hear).
The "bleeding" can take a while to make it down to be visible, from my understanding, which is why most implantation bleeding is brown. So, from my perception, this could be implantation bleeding or a CP.
This, exactly this. Many women see the implantation bleeding a few days after their BFP for this very reason.
My IB was before during and after BFP.
Also, OP, if the bfn was with a digi, I wouldn't worry too much yet. You are still super early, and digis aren't very sensitive. I would buy a multipack of FRER. See if the line is darker. And take one each day.
Also, I would call to get betas done. I didn't do this early enough one time.... so I think I have had a CP, but don't know for sure, and that is frustrating.
We are so thankful that our second daughter, Lillian Elizabeth "Lily", was born healthy and happy on February 11, 2013. We love her to pieces.
We lost our first daughter, Hannah Grace on May 4, 2011. She was buried on May 14 during a beautiful service at my home church. We are grateful that if she could not be here with us, that she is healed and whole with the Lord. We look forward to the day when we will get to meet her. We love her so much.
Thanks again for all the advice. Something to keep my mind at ease. I'm a worrier and I am trying to stay relaxed and not dwell on this.
My doc is out of town and it's friday. Perfect timing, huh? The nurse did call back and asked me first of all...why I took an early test! Oops...shame on me! Anyway,I can't get back in for a blood test until monday at 8AM, but she said among other things that the brownness of the discharge meant older blood, so it was a good sign. Coupled with the fact that I took a digital test without first morning urine could just be that it wasn't strong enough to detect it this time...I had 4 positives before today! Grrr...
I'm wanting to get some FR tests but I know if i do i'll just keep worrying myself into a rut. She told me that I need to wait and watch...if i continue to lightly spot today and over the weekend and it doesn't turn into full on bleeding then its a good sign. However, if i start to bleed heavily, I'll need to go to the hospital. Very scary...hard NOT to worry and rack my brain for an ounce of hope...Thanks again everyone! I'm trying not to stress out, waiting patiently and monitoring whats going on down there...
This is exactly what I was thinking... implantation bleeding is specific bleeding as a result of implantation. Spotting isn't called implantation bleeding....it's just spotting, which can be normal. But, semantics.
OP, I hope that it's just early and maybe that one test didn't pick it up since it wasn't the first morning urine. But either way, I hope you can get your blood drawn. Good luck and keep us updated.
I'm sorry you had to go through this. There's nothing really you can do or not do to make sure you don't have another one. It's all random. I hope you get your true BFP soon.
