Baby Names

Raleigh, Rawley, Rollie?

My 3 year old son is named Jones.  Our second son is due in October.  Which spelling of the above name is the most manly??  Plus- we need a good middle name.  Our last name starts with an S.

Re: Raleigh, Rawley, Rollie?

  • I've only ever heard/seen Rollie as a nickname for Roland. Can I cast a vote for that?

  • I love the name Rollie !
  • As in Sir Walter?  And the capital of NC?

    I don't think it's a manly name at all but if you have to use it, at least spell it correctly.  Raleigh.

  • I know a Rawley. It's a family name for them. I kind of like that better than the spelling of the actual city, but some people will say raw-ley, which isn't so appealing.
  • Raleigh looks like the only acceptable spelling. I wouldn't use either of the other two.

    Those are three different words that each have their own distinct pronunciation.

    You can't just jack up word spelling because you want to.

    Raleigh = ra-lee

    Rawley = raw-lee

    Rollie = roll - ee

    Pick your pronunciation and you have your spelling.

    This! Not a fan at all. Raleigh is a city in NC. Rawley has the word raw in it. Not too fond of that and Rollie is like rolly polly...the bug.

  • Sorry but I don't consider either of those very masculine..   As far as spelling they are all pronounced differently so I guess spell it how you want it pronounced

    I immediately thought of the bug too! I don't think Raleigh is terrible but the other look made up.

    For reals.

    I would not do Rollie- heaven help him if he's on the chunky side in school.

  • Um none of the above. Raleigh and Rawley both look like (bad) girls names and Rollie looks like a dog's name.

  • None of them seem manly.

  • Not a fan of it no matter how you spell it. It just doesn't seem like a first name at all. What about Davis? At least it goes with Jones.

  • None. These are all awful IMO.
