I had my Anatomy Scan today and I am thrilled to share that the two tiny humans are GIRLS! I am still in a bit of shock. I thought for sure they would be B/G or even two boys, but I never thought for a minute they would both be girls. Aparently, I was wrong!
My scan went great. Both are measuring right on track and are estimated at 8 and 9 ounces. Because Baby B was moving around so much, my OB wants me to see a MFM next week for a Level II. She doesn't have any concerns, but she felt like they didn't get to see as much as they wanted to see on this visit.
I have yet to see a MFM for any reason so she thought it would be good to get in one visit since I am AMA with twins. I did decline the genetic counseling though. I am OOP so I can't wait to see what this visit will cost. Yikes!
Two girls, two mini-me's. Bring on the bows ans tutus.
Re: Anatomy Scan Update
Congratulations!!!
I had to see an MFM for my anatomy scan. It's been my only visit outside of my OBGYN. I have an HSA, so saw the full cost of that appointment. If you want me to tell you what mine would have cost without insurance, let me know.
Yeah... let me have it.
Most offices give a 20% discount for cash pay, but I still know this is going to be a doozie. I pay $360 for a twin ultrasound at my OB office, so I can only imagine what a specialist will be.
I am about 95% sure on my names. I have had them picked out for a while, I just need to sit with them for a few more days and make sure. I am anxious to get their names nailed down though.
Audrey Grace & Lydia Louise.
Audrey and Lydia are names I chose, for them. I wanted normal, traditional names, but not top 10 and with no obvious nick names.
Grace and Louise are after my grandmothers. They were Emma Louise and Helen Grace but both went by their middle names.
I wanted them each to have one name of their own and one family name.
Ok, are you sitting down? Also I live in Phoenix, just so you can have cost of living comparison to where you are. My Anatomy Scan/MFM appointment cost $1,800 before insurance. I was there for 2 hours. Maybe if they are only looking at 1 baby, they'll only charge you $900? Good luck.
I was expecting about $1000 so we'll see. It is what it is. One of the joys of being a middle-class, middle-income, self-employed Texan.

Congrats on your little ladies and the great scan!
I love my daughter and can not wait to have 2 more, my poor DH lol! I was surprised as well at our scan, I just "knew" it was two boys.
ETA: love those name choices, so classy! We also went with a own first name/family middle name for each of our 3.
First of all, congrats on the girls! How exciting!!
Also, I just logged into my UHC online account...
My NT scan u/s and Perinatologist consult was $622 on the original bill. Seems low, but I'm not complaining! My previous u/s at the RE were all billed out at $400, then another $215 for the time with the doctor ($120 for a NP).
I live in Atlanta and both my RE and MFM have new/advanced technology u/s machines (3D/4D capable). I'm not sure why it's low, but maybe my 17w, 2d u/s and/or A/S will end up costing a lot more...
Beta#1 (12dp3dt)= 353, Beta#2 (15dp3dt)= 1466, Beta#3 (22dp3dt)= 14,139, First u/s: TWINS!!
After 10 weeks of bedrest, our two little ladies joined us at 28w6d
Yaay! Congrats Melle!! The names are sooo gorgeous. A house full of girls, how fun!
You may not recognize me, but I have been following your story from IF and I see you on baby showers too. (I lurked on IF b/c my bff had IF issues and went through IVF right after you did...she's expecting twins too!) I started following your blog a couple months ago but don't know how to make anonymous comments on it so I haven't been able to say anything there. Anyways, I couldn't be happier for you! May the next 4+ months be a time of joyful planning and purchasing of way too many bows, tutus, and dresses.
Thank you so much!
OMG! I can't believe that you're far enough along for an A/S! I try to keep up with all the Spring Chicks, since you were my buddies when I was an IVF virgin. (And I lurk on the multiples board frequently because we transferred 3 embryos this time around.)
Anyway, congrats on team pink x 2!
