Potentially bad news...

I found out via BM's mother's facebook that BM gave birth last night. The baby is healthy, which is great. But they've named her and the grandmother was super excited and talking about pictures. I think this is probably bad news for us and they're going to keep her. But we haven't heard anything from anyone yet! This wait just got so much harder.

Thank you. We just received word that they're going to parent the baby. From what we've heard though, the baby is healthy, which is what is most important. But I think it's made DH and I realize how much we want a baby, so I think it's time we finally start working with a private agency.

Sorry to hear that but it is wonderful that the baby is healthy. How did you get this potential match? Were you not working with an agency/advertising?

No. We were working with an agency that generally places children who are in foster care. Every once in a while they get a call from birth parents about a baby, which is how this happened.

Oh okay. I considered the foster system as a last resort but worry it is a bit risky. I am working with an attorney, finishing up my home study. I plan to advertise on parentprofiles and hope the wait is as short as possible, but you never know.

Thank you. And good luck to you too! We know that whatever option we choose, there's a risk of the birth parents changing their mind. But we're just making no progress with the route we've chosen so far.

I am so sorry.... You are right that it's most important that the baby is healthy BUT that doesn't mean your heart isn't broken too. I've been there... it's a loss that people underestimate... I know I had friends and family think we'd "just move on to the next situation". But you can't help that you thought this was your time.... and knowing it isn't hurts.
