I found this article from Lucie's list and really liked it. I rationally know that labor, birth and postpartum will not be a fun experience but I'm not sure I'm really actually prepared for the amount of pain that may/will be involved. It makes me scared that it will be even worse because I'm not prepared. Anyway, the article is not scary, just full of information. Hope someone else enjoys it!

Re: Getting a little scared that we won't survive this!
Yep, I'm getting scared too! The realization that this baby has to come out somehow is hitting me...and sometimes I think how is that going to happen without me dying. ;P
It's scary not to know what the recovery is going to be like...and, to top it off, we'll have a newborn to figure out how to look after while trying to recover. It's scary stuff! I just keep telling myself that others do it, so can I...I hope.
ETA: Thanks for sharing the link.
Most of that stuff didn't apply to me. I didn't take any painkillers other than Motrin and Tylenol because I was nursing and preferred to keep narcotics out of my system. The pain was manageable with OTC stuff. I do, however, recommend the ice pack menstrual pads - those things are HEAVEN!!! I plan on stealing a crate of them before leaving the hospital this time around.
Just remember that everyone's experience is different. Some people have a lot of pain, others have none at all.
Thanks for posting! This list is great!
I'm a little scared now though
This.
I keep reminding myself that lots of people do this more than once.

Neat article - thanks for sharing! I do want to say it's really not that bad though and don't get yourself too scared. In the end many women go on to have another one, two etc kids.
Recovery isn't fun but I used iced pads, Sitz baths and tylenol (since I was nursing) and got through it just fine. Yes - it is exhausting (it felt like a 3 month long never ending sleepless day for me) but you learn to manage. You'll feel like you can't manage much longer and then the lil goober smiles at you and you remember why its all worth it.
You'll get through it just fine. No need to stress!
