How early can you feel baby kick?

Hi all - I'm about 10.5 weeks and for the last day or two I've had this weird sensation in my belly that comes and goes quickly, but is a new feeling.  I didnt think it was possible to feel baby kicking so early, so I'm wondering if its that or just something else.

Re: How early can you feel baby kick?

  • You're still really early to feel the baby.  Probably just a gas bubble :)

  • Definitely gas. I felt DS for the first time around 20 weeks, but most women feel baby around 16-18 weeks. I had an anterior placenta so I never felt the rolling, just big old kicks.
  • No, you can not feel the baby kick this early, it is probably gas or something else.  I started feeling little pops around 18 weeks, then full on kicks/punches consistantly around 19 weeks.  You will know when you feel the kicks, they are undeniable!

This. The average range for first time moms starts at 15 weeks or later.

  • That's what I thought, but then I got excited if it could be kicks :) - thanks guys!
  • Definitely gas. I never felt kicks until 19 wks and even then I wasn't "sure" they were kicks until I was 22 wks.

  • Agree with PPs. I had a NT scan yesterday and the LO was kicking, rolling, and punching my uterus pretty much throughout the entire thing.  Did not feel a thing.

  • If it's your first probably not until like 18 weeks or later. I had an anterior placenta with my first (placenta was in the front where my belly is, instead of in the back near my spine - really common) so it adds extra cushion and makes it harder to feel kicks early. I didn't feel my DD kicking until more like 21 or 22 weeks.

  • I'm not quite sure mostly because my son was a pretty calm during my pregnancy, only really kicked once and I think that was when I was a couple weeks before my due date. But every kid is different even before they're born. :)

  • With my first, I felt them at 16 weeks or so. With the second, I felt them starting at 14 weeks. With this one, I swear I can feel them already...at twelve weeks. They feel like little bubbles popping and very different from gas.
