I got a cramp in my calf before I got out of bed and it's STILL hanging around. Is this normal? I have been drinking all day, but it's still not going away. It feels like I did a million stair lifts - not painful, but super tight and I feel like I spent all day yesterday running. Ugh. Has anyone had muscle cramps that just stick around?
Re: Calf cramp not going away?
Chances are that it's not a blood clot. Moms of multiples get cramps worse than singletons.
OP: Pickle juice is higher in potassium than bananas or orange juice.
But you should call your doctor to make sure he/she doesn't want to see you.
Put some salt in your water, that always worked for me.
I got the worse leg cramps starting at 15 weeks with my singleton. I had at least one a week and toward the end of my pregnancy, I would sometimes get 2-3 in one week (most always during the night). Sometimes they'd be so painful that they'd leave me feeling tight and sore for a few days like you've described.
A friend of mine that struggled with the same problem during her first 2 pregnancies started taking calcium pills as recommended by her OB. She didn't get a single leg cramp during her 3rd pregnancy. She passed along the info to me, and so far so good... I'm 22w2d and haven't had a cramp yet! I'm not sure if it's the calcium that's working, but I can't help but think it is since it was so bad the first time and I didn't take any calcium supplements. BTW, I ran it by my own OB just to get her opinion and she said that it's totally fine for me to take the extra calcium!
